I don't know if an idea like this has been stated before, but i think that getting MS/EMS (mainly EMS) isn't supposed to be achieved through evil means. As we know, Itachi originally said that the MS is unlocked when an uchiha (presumably with a fully evolved Sharingan) kills his best friend. We later found out that this is not true, and that MS is unlocked when an uchiha witnesses the death of their best friend, and that many uchiha just killed their best friends to speed up this process. Now, it seems that MS is supposed to be evil, considering that the great power it offers comes with the price of blindness, so that's where the EMS part comes in. As far as we know, EMS has only been achieved by Madara (who stole his brother's eyes) and Sasuke (who took Itachi's eyes from his corpse) which implies even more evil. But notice how both of their visions were restored, and it is assumed that they have perfect vision now. This is extremely important if you look at this from an "earthly" perspective. Itachi was damn near blind when he died, so how is it that when Sasuke implanted his eyes, his vision is perfect? From a realistic point of view, Sasuke should be just as blind as Itachi was. Obviously, it is stated getting EMS, it (as in, the dojutsu itself) restores your vision. Now, to finally incorporate this into my theory (more of an idea, really xd). If EMS restores your vision, why didn't Izuna just implant Madara's eyes into himself? Doesn't it make sense (and this is going by Narutoverse logic here) that Izuna's eyesight would have been restored by having Madara's eyes transplanted into him? And the same goes for Itachi. If he hadn't died, couldn't he have just implanted Sasuke's eyes to himself and had good eyesight? Notice how when Itachi explained EMS to Sasuke, he said it is an exchange of eyes, but so far it has been shown to be one person taking another person's eyes. I think Itachi meant that uchiha members were supposed exchange their eyes with each other, as in BOTH people giving/receiving eyes, which would mean both uchiha members would get EMS and not be blind, but the first time it happened, it happened "incorrectly" and was made into an evil thing, basically because of plot. Sooo...
TL;DR MS/EMS isn't supposed to be an evil process, it has simply become that. From a Narutoverse logic standpoint, MS isn't supposed to be evil, and it became so because of plot. You are simply supposed to become stronger from witnessing your best friend die, and if you overuse MS, then thats where EMS comes into play. On the same note, EMS isn't supposed to be evil either, and it is actually supposed to be good and save TWO people from MS blindness, not just one.
Thoughts?
