One is a Germanic language, while the other is a Romance language.Which language would you rather learn and why?

Recently, I was learning French. The only reason I wanted to learn it was to go live in France one day. But I'd also like to be in Germany. They have nice castles. Anyway, what language do you like more? What country do you like more? Also, do you prefer German or French men/women? (I know race doesn't matter when it comes to love, but this is a preference question.)

Hmm I wonder which is the Germanic one lol.

If you already know English which it seems you do you'll have an easier time with German I think since English stems from the Anglo-Saxon and the Saxon of that is from the area that is Germany now. French though is similar to Spanish and Italian so it could help with learning other languages as well.

I'm having a much easier time learning German now on Duolingo. See, it's best to learn one language at a time for me. That's why I was wondering which one is better to learn. I am only lvl 2 on German (I started it today) and I am lvl 7 on French.

French and English are quite different, and English is my native language. I am half Asian and half Caucasian.

French: Il est un garcon.

English: He is a boy.

German: Er ist ein Junge.

German is indeed much closer to English. You're right, English came from the Anglo-Saxons and the Franks.

He'd have a harder time with German in general because the grammar is more complex. Pronunciation would be easier though.

OT: Duolingo isn't a good marker for how easy/difficult a language is, and it's not able to accurately dictate to you how well you're actually doing, because the conditions are so synthetic and tightly controlled. Good for learning structures and rules, but not good for practice. You could find yourself unable to function what you've learnt unless you get "real" practice too.
