You underestimated genma greatly just take look at his ability in naruto wiki beside kakashi rely to much on his sharinghan .

Kakashi > Genma man. He's a special jonin. Meaning Kakashi ranked higher than him when he was 12. People think sharingan is what Kakashi strong.. Nope, it makes him Kage level but he's a jonin without it. You complain he relies too much on it ? Yeah, let's see you have a sharingan and not use it. Smart

I always thought Genma was pretty cool and reliable.
Especially for someone who has no special kekki Genkai, and he's been in the frontlines often and survived. Of course, the Naruto fanbase sucks, so unless he has some type of op jutsu then he sucks.
But as a character, Genma is pretty coo.

Iruka is chunin a 23 years old while genma is jounin a 32 years old ..

iruka = chunin and academy teacher and he doesn't know any jutsu , he's only know how to throw kunai .

GENMA = elite guardian of 4th hokage ,he's fighting in this war unlike iruka and ebuisu who are hiding with kids in konoha ..

There is no such thing called special jounin in manga , this rank is only introduced in anime..

Both kakashi and genma have same rank and it's jounin ..
