Genjutsu focuses mainly on creating illusions to project onto the targets mind. Most Genjutsu requires hand-seals and chakra, but some don't require the usage of hand-seals, for example the sharigan genjutus. One of the main types of jutsu categories in the ninja world. It works by the user controlling taking control of the targets nervous system making their one of their five senses or all of them to change to fit the conditions the enemy places their nervous system in. There victim will either be unconscious or unaware of their location once in the genjutsu. To release oneself from a genjutsu they can: disrupt their chakra flow from an outside force, the genjutsu release technique, and by inflicting pain upon themselves to release from the genjutsu. The level of the genjutsu depends on how much pain needs to be inflicted to release yourself from it.
I'm fascinated by how genjutsu works, and how it affects the targets nervous system to inflict the victims senses. I intend on using genjutsu to toy around with enemies before actually fighting seriously.
I expect nothing less from someone called Sasori .__.
Anyway... I guess we should get started?
( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) - Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
We saw this used by the Rain Genin against Team 7 in one of the fillers... I want to say the something with the Land of Tea (It's been a while)?
Anyway, this is a purely visual genjutsu; you can only affect what your target see's and nothing else. For example, if I change a hot, sub-tropical forest terrain to look like a frozen tundra, you would still feel the heat and humidity of the forest. That would be your clue in to the fact that you are under a genjutsu.
So, give me an example of how you'd use this jutsu? Use any skill or ability you know to combo with this and then how you'd counter the same scenario if used against yourself.
I would use this technique to create an illusion of a smoldering hot desert. In addition with this technique I would call forth a fire jutsu to enhance the illusion of the jutsu possibly causing for the opponent to faint/burn due to the illusion of the heat or from the actual fire juts.
To deal with this technique, I would use my other senses available such as my sense of touch, and if possible sense of smell. Though mainly my sense of touch to investigate the surrounding land environment.
Yeah that works for me... you can also use your hearing but it's entirely situational and depends on how drastically your opponent alters the appearance. Also, when dealing with a genjutsu, it is generally best to also describe how you'd go about releasing yourself from said jutsu. For Demonic Illusions there is no issue, regardless of your release method but I would still like you to mention it for future jutsu.
However I also asked how you'd counter the same combination you described (Simulating a desert and using fire jutsu...) I'll get you to do that now while I also give you another jutsu to work on.
( Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou ) - Illusion Technique: Flower Petal Escape
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.
So five seals, your homework is to find the seals for me. Anyway, this jutsu causes you to appear to dissolve into many flower petals that distract your opponent from your movements.
So... find hand seals, tell me your analysis of the jutsu (such as usefulness in battle), what type of genjutsu it is, how you'd use it in battle (please start adding some more detail to this part please) and... well I won't ask you how to counter this jutsu.
( Oh sorry lol)
To start off, I would avoid the previous attack by feeling around my surrounding, say we are in a forest. I will use my sense of touch to figure out that the ground is not actually sand, as I recall remembering seeing trees in the area, and how there is actual grass on the land.
The usefulness of the next technique in battle is that it can be used to cover up your movements while distracting the enemy with a cloud of flower petals. This the type of genjutsu that involves eye sight and what the victim seems, as it clouds their vision. I would use this technique in battle by dissolving into a smoke of flower petals in front of the enemy to block their vision. While their vision is clouded I could stealthily sneak behind them and strike them while they are unable to see.
You didn't do some of your Homework... which was to find the hand seals for this jutsu: Tiger → Boar → Tiger → Horse → Ox
( Genjutsu: Kasumi ) - Illusion Technique: Servant
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes
Using a single hand seal you'll cause your opponent to believe that a paper-bomb you'll throw at them, is actually a clone of your running directly towards said target. Of course, the paper bomb will explode as it gets close to the target, giving a small window for them to break/counter the genjutsu.
So this genjutsu is a little different in that is has a consequence built into the jutsu, if one is unable to counter it.
So reply as you did for the other jutsu however I would also like you to counter this as if it were a battle (nothing too complicated like RP'ing your character, just the reasoning and actual counter for the genjutsu).
To start off, this is a form of genjutsu which will inflict damage upon the target if they are unable to avoid it. The thing about this genjutsu is that it is only capable of being done in short range, but that still makes it a deadly attack as it leaves little space to avoid it. So after doing the required hand seal for the jutsu the user will cast the opponent into a genjutsu where they see a clone heading towards them when in fact it is a clone. With the short time frame with the jutsu it would fast movements to avoid it.
To avoid this technique you could use the knowledge of a clone heading towards you to give you the instinct to attack it or get away from it.
Basically, if a clone runs towards you... attack it with a projectile jutsu that will ensure it doesn't get close to you... good job.
( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.
You can start off by telling me what type of genjutsu this is, basically what sense it affects is what type it is.
This genjutsu creates illusionary clones that you can use as cover to attack from multiple directions with ninja tools and traps. If a clone it attacked, the clone will simply appear to deform before reforming back into the original form... which can be the method you deduce this is a genjutsu and escape. Can you think of a genjutsu, or really any other jutsu, that you think would combine well with this illusion?
This is the type of genjutsu which will affect the targets since of sight in order to confuse them. The user is capable of deducing if it is a genjutsu if they look at how the clones simply deform and appear after being attack. This technique can be used in conjunction with the Haze clone technique in order to further confuse the enemy with the amount of targets on the field. The both work in a similar fashion so it could be used together or right after the initial jutsu in order to fool the enemy between reality and genjutsu.
(Oboro Bunshin no Jutsu) – Haze Clone Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 10
Damage N/A
Description: Haze clone technique is like the regular clone technique in creating intangible clones, although these clones will let the enemy go through them without being dispelled or released. Doujutsu can see through these clones as unlike Shadow Clones, they are intangible and lack any form of chakra circulatory system, chakra flow, etc; they are simple images made by chakra. They cannot do harm to any enemy but can be used to communicate and distract the enemies. The clones can be created anywhere within the users sensory field.
and another visual based genjutsu, this one we saw Kakashi use against Sakura during the bell test way back in the start of the series.
( Magen: Narakumi ) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.
Any questions about this one, please ask. If not, I think you've got the gist of basic d-ranks like this.
As well as any questions or comments on the above jutsu, tell me all you know about Kai release.
Here is another type of genjutsu that will affect ones Sight as you already stated. The user must first perform hand seals to activate the genjutsu first. Once the genjutsu is activates leaves will swarm the enemy which cause for them to eventually see whatever it is they fear most. To release ones self they use their location, say you are in a desert and the enemy uses this jutsu you will know something is up because there are no leaves int he desert. Also, there is the fact that you can simply notice that the user has used hand seals and draw from there.
From what I know about, Kai release it is a technique which is used to release oneself from a genjutsu. The user must first notice that they are within a genjutsu, and after that they will have to perform a hand seal with spike their chakra therefore releasing themselves from the genjutsu. One is even capable of using on teammates who are in need of genjutsu releasing.
( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.
So at your current rank, you can dispel genjutsu up to S-rank using the Kai release method. Also remember that you need to be able to move in order to use Kai release, meaning any genjutsu that immobilises you (prevents you from moving) will prevent you from using Kai. Also, to release an ally with this, it will also cost you one of your three jutsu per turn.
Yes, you are in quite the predicament if you are placed in an immobilising genjutsu, which is why you'd hopefully have a full body surge jutsu at your disposal, that utilised no hand seals; such as Chidori Nagashi. However as the rank of the genjutsu increases, you'd have a harder time finding full-body surges for you to use and would more and more rely on a partner or being able to take whatever damage your opponent brings next.
( Kori Shinchū no Jutsu ) - Sly Mind Affect Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.
Just a quick note; it only effects moving targets, meaning they already have to be moving when you cast this genjutsu.
This is the type of genjutsu that will affect someones sense of feel. It will only work on those that are moving at the time. The user will convince the enemy that they are running in a straight line when in fact that they are running in circles. With this jutsu it will take place over time as its purpose is to tire someone out. To get out of said genjutsu you could think of the distance you were from your target when you started running and how long you have been moving to realize that you are in a genjutsu. So if someone is running at you from long range then this could possibly fool them, but not for long.
Sorry for the delay, can't guarantee it won't happen again but I'll do my best to not make it such a long break.
( Genjutsu: Jinmon ) - Illusion Technique: Interrogation
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.
This is a pretty useless jutsu and only has applications in the NW. Even then, it's very hard to use and requires your target to remain immobile, possibly via some other jutsu. Just ask any questions you have on this jutsu.
( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.
For this jutsu, since the description is straight forward... I want you to tell me: What type of genjutsu this is, when the genjutsu is finished, how you could use this to your advantage (combinations etc) and how you might deduce this is a genjutsu.
2) Here we have an external genjutus that will change the appearance of the battle field. Once activated a large fireball will be seen from directly over the enemy. I would assume that genjutsu will have served its purpose the moment the fireball engulfs the targets, but at that point the user should have already planned a surprise attack. I could use this to my advantage by performing another jutsu at the enemy in a linear manner to attack them directly, while they will possibly be distracted by the fact fireball, and possibly waste a move trying to get rid of it. You can easily deduce that is an genjutsu by saying that you do not feet any heat going off the fire ball leading you believe it is not real.
*Appears* Hello. This is like what, the third field we've gone over together? xd
I only require a couple things for Gen training. Like: what senses does the illusion affect, some strategies you'd use for it to have maximum effect, and how you'd dispel the illusion should you get caught in it.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, because I may ask you some myself.
This set of two are similar in function such that they distort the sense of sight, but note the secondary/concurrent effects of the second one.
( Genjutsu: Kasumi no Jutsu ) - Illusion Technique: Mist Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.
( Kasunda Genjutsu ) - Illusionary Arts: Hazy Illusion
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Rank: C
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage: N/A
Description: This is a simple and not to difficult to discern genjutsu. The user places the target in an illusion where they see the world around them heavily distorted, preventing the target from discerning his surroundings while within the illusion. The technique also gives the impression of the target sinking in quicksand and thus acts as a means to immobilize them slowly.
