[Gen] Genjutsu with Reborn

As the sun is starting to set, Sinbad approaches the training field. He walks to a nearby tree and leans against it and crosses his arms and awaits his sensei as he begins to speak.
"So, my sensei is an Uchiha. I've never met an Uchiha before. This should be exciting."

 

[Reborn]

As you waited you began to notice the sound of foot steps approaching you from the front however you saw nothing. As the steps became louder and closer to you, a figure began to appear like a mirage before you, stopping a few short paces from you. The man had black hair tied into a ponytail. He had a black cloak with a large collar which covered the lower half of his face to a degree and black gloves. His eyes were dark, absent of the Sharingan however the back of his cloak had the insignia of the Uchiha on it.

"I'm am Ieyasu Uchiha, you must be Sinbad correct?" Ieyasu said in a stoic tone.

 

[Nocturnal]

Noticing the sound of footsteps, Sinbad looks around.
"Where the hell...?"
As your image began to come clear, Sinbad locks on to your location. He notices your physical qualities, and sees your Uchiha cloak. Sinbad then answered your question, in a seemingly calm tone.
"That is correct, I am Sinbad. It is nice to meet you, Ieyasu. Thank you for training me."

"I only do what I'm instructed. And while you're under me you'll do the same. Now then, tell me everything you know thus far about genjutsu."

 

[Nocturnal]

"Very well, sensei. Genjutsu is are performed in the same fashion as that of Ninjutsu; through hand seals and chakra. Genjutsu literally means illusionary techniques, and as the name suggests, these attacks target the mind, not the physical body. These attacks disrupt the senses, which many times renders the victims body useless. It is categorized as a form of Yin release.

Genjutsu can be used to create fake images within the mind of the user, as well as fake pain, by targeting the senses to make them believe they are under stress to the point of causing pain. They do not, however, actually harm the victim's physical body, so they aren't user quite as frequently as ninjutsu techniques. Genjustu can also be used to, in a sense, hypnotize a person, giving one the ability to produce suggestive images in the mind of the victim, giving you control over them. When an interrogation must occur, genjutsu is a great way to break ones will and find out the truth.

By controlling the chakra flow among the cerebral nervous system and affecting the five senses, genjutsu is created. It can cause the victims body to appear unconscious, and can also allow the victim to remain in motion, allowing them to think they are doing something that may not be totally accurate; for example- the victim sees my face and throws a punch, when it is actually the blade of my sword.

Genjustu, more times than not, is used by ninja with high intelligence and very good chakra control. If it isn't done correctly and precisely, it simply will not work.

Any species with a prosencephalon structure of the brain, such as dogs and humans, can fall victim to genjutsu. Some species, such as insects, lack that structure, and rely soley on their senses, making them completely immune to genjutsu. This means that an Aburame clan user would be a good counter to a genjutsu user.

Genjutsu can occur through different ways, such as sound and sight. They can even be associated with elemental jutsu, however this is less common.

To overcome genjutsu, the is more than one method. The less pretty method would be to cause immense pain to oneself, which brings the senses back to their original order. This seems to be the most effective method, and is an easy way to break genjutsu, but takes a toll on your body.

The method that sounds best is to stop the flow of chakra through your body, and then apply an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of chakra of the opponent that casted it. This method is known as Genjutsu Dissipation, and can even be done by an outside force by applying a surge of chakra into the affected person(s). A form of this would be how Killer Bee and the Hachibi work together and break genjutsu through their cooperation in a similar fashion.

Another method is based on the clan you were born into... so this only applies to the Uchiha Clan or outside members with a Sharingan. The Sharingan can see through genjutsu. It also allows them to literally go inside of the genjutsu that is affecting a comrade and break it from there.

There are multiple ways to break a genjutsu, however some, such as Itachi's Tsukuyomi, can't be broken out of so easily."

Ieyasu held his hand to his head as if he had a headache, becoming tired as he listened to your long winded response.

"You're very long winded. There are some things to address in your...rant but I'll address them individually as the process goes on. Before learning techniques you must understand the three fundamental concepts; breaking genjutsu, casting genjutsu, and layering genjutsu. We'll begin with those three and head onto learning the techniques. Now before proceeding do you have any questions?"

A bead of sweat falls down Sinbad's forehead.

"Well... Sorry sensei! I didn't mean to bore you! But, no questions! I am ready to begin."

 

[Reborn]

"Very well then, we shall get into the first area which is breaking. Based on what you've said you've given me three methods in which an ordinary shinobi can break genjutsu. The first was pain and let me clear a misconception, the level of pain you need to apply for an illusion is dependent on the level of the genjutsu yourself. Weaker illusions don't require much pain since the distruption is caused by minimal chakra. Simply causing yourself more or less mild pain that won't hinder you in battle can be used against most low level illusions. However, against higher grade illusions pain of a higher caliber, such as stabbing yourself or breaking small bones will be necessary. Sometimes even complete removal of the limbs for extremely powerful illusions.

Now among the methods in which an ordinary shinobi can break genjutsu, there is one more method. Have you begun training in any elemental styles such as Lightning or Earth release even?"

"That sounds excruciating to say the least. But to answer your question, yes. I have begun everything, however I have only learnt jutsu in Fuuton and Katon.

 

[Reborn]

"So it's safe to assume you haven't gotten very far in those regards. There is one more method in which you can release a genjutsu and it's similar to genjutsu kai in that you are using chakra to disrupt the foreign chakra inside of your body. This is commonly known as a full body surge. It is simply when you use a technique that excretes chakra from every point in your body that spout spikes your chakra higher and forces out the foreign chakra causing the illusion.

Think of the Hyuuga clan's 'Full Body Blow' which forces out chakra from every chakra point in their body. That constitutes as a full body surge. The same goes for techniques like Chidori Negashi.

The difference between this method of release and genjutsu kai is that; with kai you stop your flow and then re-establish it with a burst of chakra. With this method when you use a jutsu you bypass the foreign chakra and force it out with a burst of chakra, however you don't stop your flow of chakra. You simply use the technique and force through it. Now of course this method has rules and restrictions.

In order for you to be successful with this method you have to causes a surge greater than the amount of chakra disrupting your own. Meaning the technique you use has to release from every point of your body and needs to be of a greater rank and power than your opponent's genjutsu. For elemental techniques it must be 1-rank higher and for raw chakra surges it needs to be 2-ranks higher. Do you understand or have any questions?"

"I understand. No questions, sensei."

"Very well then, I'm going to give you a little quiz to make sure.

You have two full body surge methods; an A-ranked Raiton technique and an A-ranked raw chakra technique. Which one of them will be able to break you out of an A-ranked genjutsu?"

 

[Nocturnal]

An A rank Raiton technique would do better than raw chakra, but wouldn't both of the two methods fail? If for elemental jutsu it takes 1 rank higher, and for raw chakra it must be 2 ranks higher, then neither would work, right?

 

[Reborn]

"That's correct, it was a trick question. Neither technique would be sufficient in breaking a genjutsu technique of the same rank. Keep this sorta question in mind, the life of a shinobi is rarely so straight forward. Now then. Now there's one last area in this section of our training that we'll be getting through.
