Chakra:
Chakra is the energy formed by combining the spiritual energy and the physical energy present in our body. It is the base ingredient to most of the technique performed by a shinobi/ninja like ninjutsu, genjutsu, taijutsu etc. One would die if he/she is depleted of the Chakra in their body. With the correct control and balance on one's chakra, one can perform impossible feats compared to actions done without the usage of chakra.
Forms of Chakra:
a) Raw Chakra which is readily present in our chakra circulatory system of our body.
b) Elemental chakra which is slightly more advanced, since it is formed as a result of the nature manipulation of one's raw chakra. These chakras mostly have elemental properties of earth, water, lightning, wind or fire but in some rare cases two or sometimes even three elemental chakra are combined to create new elements such as wood which is a combination of earth and water, or Lava which is combination of earth and fire element.
c) Natural Chakra/Energy - They are present in the terrains all around us.
Handseals:
Handseals are certain actions performed with one's hand in order to control and balance the Chakra while using certain techniques. There are twelve basic handseals based on the Chinese Zodiac animals. Different set of handseals are used for different techniques, especially ninjutsu and genjutsu . Some ninja/shinobi after mastering certain techniques to a very high degree, can perform them with fewer or even without the use of handseals.
Genjutsu:
They are a set of techniques used by ninjas specifically to deceive their opponent by manipulating the flow of chakra in the victim's brain. Unlike the ninjutsu and taijutsu, which effects the opponent physically, Genjutsu effects the opponent's senses (or mentally) and thus misleads the opponent to believe in non-factual happenings around them. Genjutsu, in most cases, are also used to inflict damage or paralysis upon the victim by making them believe that they are being hurt in some manner. Another use of genjutsu is for interrogation purpose to obtain certain information out of the victim.

Jinchurikis who are well synced with his Bijuu can be harmless to genjutsus as his Bijuu will simply knock him out of the genjutsu. Sharingan wielders can also see through certain genjutsus and when two comrade ninja with sharingan are effected with a genjutsu they can look into each other's eye and cast a different form of genjutsu on each other to break out from the previous genjutsu, like how Sasuke and Itachi freed themselves from Tayuya's genjutsu cast via Kabuto.

"Ummm.... okay sensei. I'll try my best" Jiraiya says with slight confusion on his face.
"Why does he want me to do that?" He says to himself. "Well, I'm sure he has a good reason"
He then clasped both his palms together. Calmly focused, he starts kneading chakra on his gut and as the amount of chakra increased, he then sends them through his chakra circulatory trying to spread the chakra across all of the 361 tenketsu or chakra points in his body. He realized it was harder than he thought but he knew he had to cross this line before he could proceed to mastering or rather learning to use genjutsus, so he strives on. He grins his teeth hard as he forced the chakra through each tenketsu. And making progress with one tenketsu at a time, he finally finishes the last one. He had completed what his Sensei asked him to do after much perseverance.
He then looks up without moving any body part but simply raising his eye-lid and pupil towards his sensei. Being careful and afraid he might lose the control over the chakra Jiraiya starts speaking in awkward manner with only his tongue moving.... xD

I stand before you.
I want you now to focus your chakra on me. The aftermath is that you force your chakra into my chakra system causing a disturbance,
you do only that for now and I should be able to experience some illusionary abnormalities if not perfect or precise.

Still standing with the palms clasped together, I nod my head slightly,
"Very well, sensei...here I go."
So saying, I realized it would require more chakra to perform what my sensei has asked me to do. So I kneaded some more chakra on my gut and forced them through my chakra circulatory sytem and into each tenketsu. I could now do this with much less effort than my previous attempt. I, then, proceeded to my next step and squeezed out some chakra from my body, trying to force them into sensei's chakra system. I concentrated hard as my focus was divided into releasing chakra from my chakra system and inserting them into my sensei's chakra system which alone was quite a difficult task. I had a difficult time finding my sensei's tenketsu and forcing my own chakra into them but after few minutes I, finally, managed to insert a small amount of my chakra into sensei's chakra system and disturbed his chakra flow with my own.
I then excitedly spoke....
"Sensei, what happened? Did it work?"
And with slight scared feeling I think to myself....
"Incase I managed to create some sort of illusion, I hope those illusions aren't of the stuff that I was watching yesterday on my phone!"

As sensei gave me my next task I got serious again and readied myself for it. I once again gathered some chakra and forced it through each tenketsu in my body and released it. I then channeled my own chakra into sensei's chakra system. Now picturing a desert, I moved around my chakra that was present in sensei's body. I gave my chakra a hot, coarse and a dry feel, and further inserted them into sensei's brain manipulating them through the brain area that was responsible for interpreting sight and feel of one's surrounding. I also pin pointed the chakra lines that connects the eyes and brain and tampered it with my own chakra so that sensei's brain interprets that it is seeing a vast desert around and is in the middle of it. While all this is happening I then increased my amount of chakra insertion into sensei's brain incase it wasn't enough and did the same thing continuously.
"This is pretty interesting. I could do lots with this.. teeheehee.." Gives a devilish smile.

I gathered some chakra and started channeling it into sensei's chakra system and then into his brain. Then, i start manipulating the flow of my chakra in the sensei's brain more precisely and thereby controlled his flow of chakra as well. Again going for the area of brain that was responsible for visualization I tampered with it and instead projected my own set of images into them. I created an image in which small petals of flowers swirled around sensei then I increased the number of petals to make it more real.
As, I was doing this I realized that sensei cant see me now. So I peeked into Sensei's jacket....
"I wonder what he keeps in there? It's quite a big jacket" I think to myself.

Pulling myself out from the thought, I determined myself and focused on the task at hand. Keeping sensei's advice on mind I started by performing a set of five handseals while gathering chakra and channeling them into sensei's chakra system. The handseals sure did a big help in precise control of my chakra, thus improving my focus. I now further channeled my chakra into sensei's brain and then started projecting the illusions into them. Due to the easy control of my chakra I could now create more realistic illusion and put them into sensei's mind. The illusion which was projected into sensei's mind, targeted specifically at the sense of sight, composed of me standing infront of him and then some petals starts swirling around him. The number of petals starts increasing and continues to increase upto the point that it completely covers sensei's vision of me.
I continued with the projection of illusion into sensei's mind and waited for his reaction.....
