You look at the sky, you notice something. Flying. It comes racing down from the heavens. Your face in awe when the sight of a dragon enters your thoughts. He's coming right at you but wait..you can't move. The sight of the dragon directed your mind towards that and off when what else was happening. Your body is wrapped up on vines, binding you in place. The dragon is so close now, about to hit. Your eyes widen and the mouth of the dragon opens and then just as it's about to hit you such your eyes! You open your eyes, no dragon, no vines. Daenerys stands in front of you.
Welcome to your training, padawan. You were just under a form of genjutsu. This type of ability is what you'll learn through out our training. Like all trainings I wish for you to explain exactly what genjutsu is? How's it done? What does it take within you to achieve mastery?

Well, as you said, genjutsu is something that creates illusions, instead of attacking the opponent like ninjutsu and taijutsu. The user manipulates the chakra flow inside the brain of the opponent, which will cause their senses to disrupt.
It is very hard to perform genjutsu, if you do it incorrectly it won't work ofcourse. you need a very precise chakra control and you need to be very intelligent.
So to achieve mastery you need to have a high intelligence, a very precise chakra control, know how to counter it and the advantage and disavdantage of the techniques you are performing

Well ok... 
Genjutsu are Illusionary techniques. So you basically are able to create illusions with genjutsu. The user performs his own chakra to manipulate the chakra flow in the brain of the opponent, by doing that the chakra structure and the chakra flow will be disturbed in the brain of the opponent, which can cause one or more senses, sight, touch smell taste and sound to be manipulated. If the opponent's senses will be manipulated, Illusions will be created. Most of the time they manipulate the sight, so ppl see things that actually aren't there, but touch and sound are also being used many times. Ppl think they feel pain but nothing happens, and they hear something, which is nothing. But ppl also can create some sounds and if the opponents hear it, they'll catch in a genjutsu, like what Tayuya does.
It is very hard to use genjutsu, to perform genjutsu you also need to perform sometimes handseals, and you need a very precise chakra control and a high intelligence. Ofcourse you also need to know how to counter genjutsu and what the advantages and disadvantages are of some genjutsus. Or else you won't be able to achieve genjutsu mastery. There are some ways to counter genjutsu, the most important thing is to realize that your in a genjutsu. This isn't hard for doujutsu users since they'll see that their own chakra flow is disrupted, but maybe you can notice it because some weird things happen and you;ll know that it's impossible, like everything becomes dark, or faces will grow out of your body
. To counter this you can stop your own chakra flow to break out of it, this is called genjutsu kai. If it doesn't work you can break out by causing yourself a shocking pain, like stabbing yourself, or let your comrades do that for you if you're unable to move.

Aye! We will put I feel that we should go over breaking a genjutsu before we go into learning them. Now, a genjutsu as you know is an illusion that affect ones chakra flow by disrupting it through the use of forcing your chakra in and manipulating it. Now, here are the ways of breaking from the disruption..

¤ The use of the technique known as "Kai"
The ninja needs to stop the flow of chakra in their body, and then apply an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of the caster's chakra; this is called Genjutsu Dissipation. This can also be done by an unaffected ninja by applying a sudden surge of chakra into the affected person.
¤ A sudden burst of internal chakra from within that resets your chakra flow
Use of a technique such as Nagashi or light weight sends a surge of chakra from yourself throughout your entire body that will reset your flow and affectingly revert the process the enemies chakra has already done to your flow
¤ Pain! Kunai stab, biting of the tongue, etc..
Another is through intense pain not caused by the genjutsu and utilising the resulting pain to bring their senses back in order (of the first two options, the latter seems more effective in most situations, or at least is the easiest).
¤ Clan Abilities/training
Sharingan wielders can also use their dōjutsu to liberate each other from genjutsu. Through eye contact, they are able to literally insert themselves into each other's genjutsu freely allowing them to break whatever genjutsu it is that imprisons their comrade. Ordinary people can sometimes train their eyes (without Sharingan) to break genjutsu through unknown means, like Deidara.
¤ Prevention
One can prevent a person from casting genjutsu using obstructive techniques like the Hiding in Mist Technique to prevent one from being trapped by an ocular genjutsu as Zabuza demonstrated against Kakashi.

I started to manipulate the chakra I sent and trying to disrupt the chakra flow. My chakra disturbed the chakra structure of his brain and the flow was changed. This caused his sight to be effected. I caused him to think that he doesn't see rock spikes coming from below. I pierced him with rock spikes which weren't seen by the clone... *poof*
¤ Tell me what senses it affects
The sight. He'll see the terrain being changed, which isn't actually true. so he could see a rock instead of a tree. Or there is something he won't see at all, like the rock spikes. Touch probably too. He'll touch the tree, but he sees a rock and he feels a rock

Afterwards, throw a paper bomb at the target. By this point you should have already placed them under the genjutsu using general means. In reality, this would be a paper bomb but in this illusion you've set - it's a clone that the target sees. the clone is quick approaching the target. When it get's close enough - explosion. You can use this in a variety of different ways, perhaps with different weapons as well. But to my understanding, only one per use of this technique so not like 2 paper bombs, etc. Give it a go.

for me, not. I think it's impossible to know it's an illusion unless you posses a doujutsu, if you have e.i. byakugan you can see whether you're under a genjutsu or not, or else you can't know it.
¤ Way(s) to escape the illusion
If you throw something at the running clone or perform a jutsu and shot it at him, the attack would be sent at the clone but in reality you cancel out a paper bomb (by accident). and f you know it's a genjutsu you can cut a small cut in your hand or something or pinch very hard
¤ Finally, any questions you may have of the technique that you need answered.
And now...? Am I sexy right now? btw do you do e.i. 2/3 jutsus at a time in the future?

Looks good. Also, it is rather diffcult to know this is an illusion but generally odds are a target won't let a clone get close. No, still. (already explained to you)

Hard to tell, since it could be some weird ninjutsu. but they don't have a physical element so you would they are illusions after seeing that they don't have a physical element. And if you're a doujutsu user it's easy to know.

Maybe you could ignore the clones, or just cut a small cut in your hand or pinch yourself

Cause the illusion through normal means, for they to see a swirl of leaves surround them. After the swirl of leaves stop and fall off to the sides, the target will view what they fear most. This extreme mental trauma causes them too pass out. It could be either spiders, camels, zombies, vampires, naked men, catdog, over poured drinks, messy bedroom, ugly twins, anything that the target truly fears.
