Well, before we delve into the types of genjutsu users, we need a more basic understanding of genjutsu, and before you do that, you need an advanced understanding of Reality and Chakra. So, firstly, I'll do reality. A Genjutsu is a technique that manipulates your senses, you need to have a strong awareness of reality in order to understand when something is out of place.

It's very crucial that whatever reasoning you do, you do it fast. Sometimes I see people go into long discourses about some complex realization that their in a genjutsu, when they could have just focused on a small detail and go on with it. Obviously, the easiest way to figure out you're in a genjutsu is about how bizarre a certain situation is, either because it's too fast or unrealistic, or because you can't pinpoint how it began, or even because it's working in a way it isn't supposed to. Something like the sky suddenly turning red, or things starting to move around or distort, usually means a genjutsu.

That is the second way of realizing you're in a genjutsu, when you know the ninja or know enough to understand that whatever the genjutsu is creating is beyond the capability of your opponent. For example, if you see a byakugan user create a tree. You have enough understanding of RP to know that these KG don't match. This is also the case of people create genjutsus of animals that they cannot summon. Except Pain, a ninja can only summon one animal type, so if someone you don't know summons an animal, and then creates a genjutsu of a different animal, you can pretty much assume you're in a genjutsu.

Of course, if you do not know the ninja you're fighting, you have to assume some hidden skills, and learn what is real and what is not by trial and error.

Other than Bizarre Effects or Unattained Skills, you need to rely on the Genjutsu's own limitation. Especially in lower ranks, a genjutsu will only alter a couple of basic senses. Sometimes, a genjutsu can be purely visual, so, sounds associated with what the illusion is creating won't be produced, and you can use that to your advantage. Other times, you can see some light changes or superposition of images (for example, a person might see an illusionary animal or clone that doesn't bend grass when it walks). You can see a tree constricting you but not hear it grow. etc etc. When a genjutsu breaks the B rank mark, it starts to complexify, especially in the hands of a good genjutsu user, and start to describe a richer experience, but even masters make mistakes, and even powerful genjutsus have limitations, people just need to explore them.

Excellent. There are always flaws to Genjutsu, so you need to be able to correct these flaws in order to prevent your opponent from detecting or reasoning out of your Genjutsu. This includes even the most minor details like the absence of a shadow.

That is the second way of realizing you're in a genjutsu, when you know the ninja or know enough to understand that whatever the genjutsu is creating is beyond the capability of your opponent. Also, well said. A jutsu that may go under this category would be the usage of the Snake binding Genjutsu, the last B-Rank genjutsu.

Well then, you gave a lot of information, I suppose. It didn't really tell me why you wanted to learn Genjutsu...but ah well. I have a few more questions before we move on.
1. Firstly, why is creativity so important and vital in Genjutsu?
2. What are some other ways, other than the ones you already covered, where one can break out of Genjutsu?

Answer #1.
Without Creativity, Genjutsu is nothing. It all depends on how the user thinks.Sasuke was able to cast a Genjutsu on Danzo which was the main reason why Sasuke won. The Genjutsu was quite simply, the Sharingan on Danzo's arm looked like it was still active although it had closed. Creativity is important in Genjutsu but knowing how to and when using Genjutsu is much more important. For example a CJ made by Igneel made the target believe that they were on their bed and had awakened from a dream where they were fighting against someone. Now this would greatly benefit someone during a battle considering the fact that it is almost impossible for the opponent to figure out whether he was caught in an illusion or whether it really was a dream

Although creativity is important and vital in Genjutsu, there is a certain limit to this creativity. A Genjutsu where a person is forced to see flying cows with machine guns is creative and would surprise the target but at the very same time make it clear that they are inside a Genjutsu.

The conclusion is that although creativity plays a vital role in Genjutsu, too much creativity may result in the target easily finding out that he is inside a Genjutsu

If the target knows that he has been caught in a Genjutsu, he can stop their flow of chakra and disrupt it by applying an even stronger power. However, this does not always work as seen when Naruto failed to get out of Itachi's Finger Genjutsu. In that case, an unaffected person can apply a sudden surge of chakra into the affected person and get them out of Genjutsu. This is one of the main reasons why Jinchuuriki who have befriended their Bijuu are immune to Genjutsu

2. Sharingan and Mangekyou Sharingan wielders are able to see through/break each others Genjutsu

3. Intense pain is able to get one out of Genjutsu as seen when Kisame was able to get out of the Genjutsu by cutting off his tongue and Orochimaru was able to get out of Tsukuyomi when Itachi cut off his arm

4. Deidara wore a scope over his left eye which was able to see through Genjutsu

5. In a filler, it was shown that Chilli Pepper Bombs were able to conteract Genjutsu. This was seen when Jiraiya and Naruto were caught in the Clam Kings Genjutsu and when the villagers threw the Chilli Pepper Bombs, the Genjustu ended

Your first answer actually explains why reasoning is important in Genjutsu. You are correct, that is one aspect of Genjutsu, as Genjutsu is an illusion, as clearly as the name implies, there will always be flaws in what is not reality. Thus, through experience and clever thinking, can one pull off a Genjutsu successfully.
However, the second aspect is that a Genjutsu is much like a book and a pencil. You can make ANYTHING happen. You're writing the world out before you. And that, is why Genjutsu is so important.

---

Excellent examples on how to break out, however, you're missing a vital C-Rank jutsu that can easily "release" anyone from Genjutsus depending on their rank.

^ I already mentioned that in the previous post. The user forms the sheep handseal, stops their flow of chakra and disrupts it by applying an even stronger power

Naw, not your fault, though I'm not sure if it's the Sheep Handseal. Either way, that works I suppose.
It's Kai, also known as "release".

Alright, let's begin then. First, try and transform our surroundings into anything you want.
You must first concentrate on your chakra and then release it out of your body onto me, then deliberately control each of my five senses to get me to see what you want.

I control my chakra and maintain it in the form of what I want you to see. I then relase my chakra, and direct it towards your body causing it to enter your chakra system and disrupting your chakra flow. My chakra is then channelled to your cerebral nervous system therefore affecting your 5 senses without you knowing what is happening.

1. The Genjutsu makes you feel the ground shaking therefore affecting your sense of touch
2. The area surrounding you starts to break and fall into a large pit which is present below the training grounds therefore affecting your sense of sight
3. The entire area is surrounded by dust particles therefore affecting your sense of smell and touch
4. You hear the fround cracking and parts of the train ng ground falling into the pit therefore affecting your sense of hearing

Perfect. It appears I am about to fall into a large hole beneath me, it can definitely cause panic.
Not bad for a start - you got the concept down of using this jutsu, however, there's another thing I'd to teach you about this. It's known as cause and effect. For example, you used a Wind Jutsu to blow away the explosive tag, thus, I can follow up with a prepared fire move to disregard your Wind Jutsu, so that it overcomes it and is sent back at you two times stronger.
By taking the upper hand, you can juggle your opponent around and have them react the way you want to, as we are all forced to make moves and survive in a battle. This is most often used in chess, where it is necessary to be able to predict several moves ahead of the opponent.

Now, because you can manipulate the surroundings to anything you wish, how might you use this jutsu in collaboration with this concept?

By being able to manipulate the surroundings, I can turn an area surrounded by water to seem like a desert. This would prevent the opponent from using any Water Technique that utilizes a pre - existing Water Source.

This can also prevent the opponent from using summons like sharks and whales. At the very same time, if the user is using a Gaara bio, this might make the opponent feel they are at a disadvantage.

TBH, it won't prevent the from summoning a fish or using water technique but who would want to summon a fish in a desert? The opponent would first have to figure out they are in a Genjutsu
