A quiet, breezy day. It didn't take long for Adachi to spot his preemptive student - surprisingly, he was the one late this time.
He extended a brief hand to the curious masked ninja, unable to pry his eyes away from the shocking style of his white hair. "Kakashi Hatake, I presume?" Adachi questioned. "I believe I am here to teach you Genjutsu - before we begin, however, I wish to know one thing. Why exactly do you wish to learn Genjutsu?"

One of my goals is to one day become a sensei and for that you need to have mastered genjutsu. also when i have activated my sharingan genjutsu will come in handy.

Alright. Decent answer. However, what parts of it intrigues and how might you be seeing yourself using it in battle?

well its facinating that you can make your enemy see what you want them to see and manipulate their mind. In a fight i would probably use it to make them see terrible ilusions and then while they are stuck in the genjutsu i would kill them.

Now, given that you have provided me sufficient enough of an answer to begin training, let us start with the fundamentals.

How exactly does Genjutsu work and how does it affect the body of the victim?

well genjutsu works just as ninjutsu but their ilusions that affect the chakraflow in the opponents brain causing them to think that the ilusion is real. genjutsu affects the five senses and creates images and pain. the opponent is led to belive that the pain is real and so it hurts him/her. Genjutsu requires handseals to perform and some of them can even trap you in a loop. Sound genjutsu is one of the most dangerous types of genjutsu because the user can stay out of sight and its hard to avoid hearing. But i think the most dangerous type is the Tsukiyomi(Mangekyo Sharingan) because in that genjutsu you controll time. a second in the real world can be a week in the tsukiyomi. the user can then crush your mind in that time while its just a second in reality giving nobody a chance to help you.

Some genjutsu users are: Kurenai, Sasuke, itachi and Jiraya.

Excellent! So, the keypoints there are "five senses" and "chakra flow". It does indeed take over the chakra system of ninjas, so you must remember to "send" your chakra to your opponent when casting Genjutsu upon them.
Sound is quite OP, yes, and the Mangekyo is why the Uchiha is indeed feared. Sharingan, a dreadful Kekkai Genkai.

Alright, given that you know how Genjutsus operate, let us say you were trapped in one right now. What might be some ways to release yourself from it?

a general chakra surge or inflicting pain to myself (biting your finger/lips) would release most genjutsus i think.

Alright, essentially, there are seven confirmed ways to release you from a Genjutsu. Three of them are basic knowledge, and you've covered two of the three.
Firstly, a general chakra surge has a technique for this - do you remember what this is?
Also, a certain Lightning jutsu allows you to also release yourself from Genjutsus. Lastly, how might an outer source benefit you as well?

Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.


and i belive the lightning jutsu is Chidori Nagashi right?

when you say outer source do you mean the people around me? If so then one way to break out of a genjutsu is to have a comrade, bijuu or pretty much anyone who can use the chakra transfer technique. If a foreign chakra enters your system your chakra flow becomes unbalanced and thus it release's the genjutsu.

Excellent response. It's been long enough, so let's give the first jutsu a start - however, please include in your reply exactly how Chidori Nagashi also "counters" Genjutsu.

Given as you know Genjutsus work, often times, the freeform of Genjutsus means that the only limitations to this particular art is but our imagination. I'd like you to now send your chakra over to me and then manipulate my five senses to then trick me into believing I am in a completely different surrounding. When creating such an environment, take careful note of how what area you choose to place me in and how it could end up being advantageous to you in battle.

chidori nagashi breaks the genjutsu because its a technique that produce a high surge of chakra on your chakra flow and thus breaking through genjutsu.

I gather a small amount of chakra and as i feel that i have the right amount i release it, sending it towards sensei, manipulating his senses, causing him too think that we're standing on a cliff above the sea. by manipulating his 5 senses, to make him think that he smells the saltiness of the sea, hears the rough sound of waves crashing on the face of the cliffs, hear the birds chipring, feel the solid rocks he stands on and the quiet breeze of the wind blowing on his face, as he takes his breathes he should feel the salty taste of the air and see the great ocean, see the tide rise and wash away dirt and rock on the cliffs.

Alright, somewhat. It disturbs the flow of your chakra, and then resets it.

So, here's a concept that's very important. It is called cause and effect. For example, you used a Wind Jutsu to blow away the explosive tag, thus, I can follow up with a prepared fire move to disregard your Wind Jutsu, so that it overcomes it and is sent back at you two times stronger.
By taking the upper hand, you can juggle your opponent around and have them react the way you want to, as we are all forced to make moves and survive in a battle. This is most often used in chess, where it is necessary to be able to predict several moves ahead of the opponent.

Alright, so considering the circumstance and the environment you created, how might you use this against me? (Elementally speaking.)

Well since we are standing close to the ocean in the illusion, me being specialized in water can use this to my advantage. Also, standing on the rocky cliffs, i can, at any time make the rocks collapse, causing you to fall from the cliff.

but i dont see how any of this will work since its just an illusion right? even if i, in the illusion, fix the surroundings after my strong side's it still wont help me in battle becaue their not real.

Alright. You understand the elemental weaknesses? So, for example, if you fake a Water jutsu through Genjutsu, they would think it's real Water and use Earth to counter it. However, you can simply use the illusion to mask something like a Lightning jutsu...do you understand?

yeah, so in reality im performing a raiton techniqe but in the illusion the enemy is seeing a water jutsu so when he performs a doton tech my raiton will overpower him.

depending on how close to me he is. If the oponent is short range and i perform a quick jutsu that only require a handseal while he perfomrs a five handseal technique there's a great chance that he wont be able to make it in time and will be hit by my technique.

but if he is long range, depending if the technique itself is a quick one or a bit slow, I think he still will manage to do his jutsu even if it requires five handseals.

Ah, I like how you took range into account! But the general logic is, with less handseals, it makes your move faster, so in reality, you should be able to move faster than him though still take time frame into account.
It pays a lot to notice things like that during fights. Small attention to important things can really make a huge difference.
So this next jutsu has five handseals.
I want you to focus your chakra into me once more and make it appear that you've dissolved into many petals. Actually, cherry blossom petals... Then, make those cherry blossoms around me and make sure you obscure my vision.
Then describe what purpose this serves in a battle.
