I know, I'll never do that. I just mentioned because it's something people used to do to release themselves from genjutsus but I understand that biting your lips will backfire.
And they are horrible people and will never get anywhere in life.
So a general overview of genjutsu..
Genjutsu is a variant of ninjutsu where chakra is used in order to take control of your opponent's senses. This is usually performed through hand seals, sound, pointing of a finger or through eye contact. Genjutsu has almost an unlimited amount of effects, from paralyzation to blinding. Within our RP, genjutsu is used as a strategic way to put your opponent at a disadvantage in order to exploit their weaknesses. Regular genjutsu cannot, however, force your opponent to perform an action. For example, you are able to make him feel itchy, but you cannot make him scratch the itch.
Releasing..
1. Kai, which is a momentarily halting of your chakra, followed by a large burst to flush out the foreign chakra. Having someone release you counts as a Kai, unless it is a bijuu. Jinchuuriki are immune to genjutsu so it's almost useless to use on them.
2. Full body surge. This requires a specific full body release technique, which are limited canon-wise. The rule is, elemental full body release can release up to a single rank below itself. So for example, Nagashi is an A-rank technique... which can release up to B-rank genjutsu. Normal, non-elemental full body release can release up to two ranks below itself. For example, an A-rank full body release can release from C-rank genjutsu.
3. Pain. Dependent upon the rank of the genjutsu, more pain will have to be inflicted in order to break from it. Usually a last resort due to the largely negative consequences, and is unusable when facing paralyzing genjutsu.
