Genjutsu Question

Ok, from what I can tell there are two types of genjutsu: the kind that works instantly or only takes a few seconds and the kind you're "caught" in. My question is if the genjutsu works immediately how do you counter it or break it since your not caught in it and it just hits you?

Sasuke hit C with this genjutsu, but he wasn't caught in it, it just immobilized him to the point where he couldn't fight anymore and Darui had to carry him. bottom right panel:

Now, this is one of the quickest acting genjutsu we've seen in the manga:

Sasuke hit Sakura with this genjutsu and it knocked her out immediately and she woke up hours later. It wasn't a genjutsu u get "caught" in. How could Sakura or anyone have resisted it? And Sakura is a genjutsu type and still got one shot, but i'll chalk that up to her being fatigued. If she was %100 do u think she could have resisted it?

My question is what's the defense for these types of genjutsu? Since you can't break out of something you're not "caught" in. I'm pretty sure some ninja skilled in genjutsu could resist the effects but what about everyone else? Actually, C is a jonin level sensor/medic/genjutsu type and Sasuke still one shot him with a genjutsu and Sasuke's genjutsu at the time was nothing special as noted by Danzo.

Wat. You're over thinking it, I think.

You get caught in every genjutsu. Sasuke just traumatized his victims and paralyzed them with fear or overwhelmed them with imaginary pain to immobilize them. You have to realize you are in a genjutsu and then break it via kai or w/e. In a fictional World like Naruto where nearly anything is possible, it's much harder to diffrentiate. Genjutsu is just a powerful illusion.

Sakura just caught a temporary heart attack seeing her beloved future husband strike her(in illusion). Thats why she went down easily and instantly.

In both cases they were "caught" in it....genjutsu is never something that "hits" you and makes you unconscious, the mental stress is what kocks a victim out.

And no, the fastest genjutsus we've seen in the manga is itachi's, dude always casts it on the victim without them knowing they're in or that it all eve happened, he is the true holder of genjutsu god title.

When Chiyo was with Team 7 against Itachi, she told them the only way to counter Sharingan Genjutsu was to not look into their opponents eyes, and have a Teamate with you, so they could break you out of it if you're caught. If you're alone, then run away.

And Danzo said Sasuke's Genjutsu was nothing compared to Itachi's, Itachi is far above the norm, so being nothing compared to him isn't an insult really. Also, as Tobi noted later, Sasuke was simply testing to see if he could actually get Danzo in Genjutsu.

Danzo easily saw through the Illusion of Itachi that Sasuke created, hence insulting Sasuke's Genjutsu skilled compared to Itachi's, and later on in the battle Sasuke completely fooled Danzo with another illusion of making it appears as if he had one Sharingan left for Izanagi.

Danzo probably felt stupid for underestimating Sasuke's Genjutsu at that point.

Sakura didn't break the genjustu herself, Kakashi is right next to her.This is the only way to break an ocular genjustu.
Powerful genjustu can't be beaten alone, while weak ones can be countered with another sharingan.
If you have the same eyes as the other person then genjustu won't work.

I stand corrected so when sakura was knocked out she was trapped in a genjutsu the whole time? And the only reason C couldn't stand by himself was because he was still being partially paralyzed by the genutsu? Why didn't he just break it? The genjutsu effect goes away after u break it right?
