It has ranges cause it depends on which sense(s) or ability(-ies) the user wants to block.why do genjutsu have ranges it makes absolutely no sense O_O
example:
u are fighting itachi and he puts a genjutsu on u all of a sudden u turn around like an idiot and run in the opposite direction and somehow the genjutsu is dispelled
(so jack sparrow)
i mean u cant just leap up and no genjutsu![]()
agree with this one...in most genjutsu you can not move
and if you can the caster is guiding your movements, or your equilibrium has been thrown off and you can not tell which way is up
illusions prevent calculated and logical reactions and make you easier to kill
make sense?
don't compare me with that thing ~_~Is this f-lawilet (excuse the spelling)
now this case is solved...♦ Rei-chan ♦;1543177 said:It has ranges cause it depends on which sense(s) or ability(-ies) the user wants to block.
There are genjutsus that block the ability to move, genjutsus that control the mind rather than the senses, and genjutsus like Tsukuyomi that can control all aspects, even the perception of time.
The range is necessary cause for some types of genjutsus a close distance to the opponent is needed like:
-Poison Moth Genjutsu: The opponent needs to inhale first a small amount of poison.
-Illusion Bell Needles: Kin's technique, but the opponent needs to hear the sound else he/she won't get caught in the genjutsu.
-Demonic Illusion: Burning Paper Body: This one is close ranged cause it requires direct eye contact.
-Bringer-of-Darkness Technique: is the same as above needs to be the most in mid range and it blocks only the eyesight.
and I am sure there are more.

By rinnegan do you mean how Nagato used the shared eyesight of the six Pain bodies and how he moved them, well as far as I know, there is a limit to how far away Nagato can be to control the 6 Pains. (Hence he was stationed near Konoha when he attacked)but i think the rinnegan has no range i think... (do they have genjutsu?)
