Genjutsu
In Genjutsu, the user uses his very own chakra and manipulates the victim's brain to make him see several illusions where the user controls the surroundings such as terrain, climate etc. However, Genjutsu are deployed using Chakra and Hand Seals such as in Ninjutsu but it does not cause any sort of physical pain to the opponent's body. Only the mind will be damaged due to the severe trauma they face in the illusion. The level of trauma depends on the Rank & Power of the technique. Genjutsu can only be employed using great concentration, even Jiraiya failed in employing a Genjutsu. There are several well known Genjutsu users such as Itachi with his powerful Mangekyou Sharingan which deploys Tsukuyomi which only a very skilled Uchiha member can break through. Even though Kakashi Hatake had the 3 Tomoe Sharingan, he was unable to break through the powerful genjutsu casted by Itachi. Tayuya uses Sound Genjutsu which can easily be recognized by the sound made by the instrument required. On other side, There is one such known Genjutsu which changes the reality to illusion, that is, when a person is killed and he has the power to use Izanagi, he can come back alive without any scar on his body. This usage of Izanagi costs the user his very own eye. The Sharingan Genjutsu is very powerful and is difficult to break through it.
Realizing Genjutsu
To Realize a Genjutsu, there are several steps/types in realizing them. The first thing the Person who is under a Genjutsu must look at the Surroundings and see if there is anything abnormal or very different from the Current area where you are supposed to battle. If the Sky is very clean, and thunders clouds appear slowly and take over the battle ground, it is possible for that to happen. But if the Sky is clean, and suddenly it became Red, we can come to the conclusion that the Person is under a Genjutsu. When you feel like you are in a Genjutsu, you must always look at the Footsteps of the Opponent, if it is a Genjutsu, the grass won't bend when the Opponent walks on it, same goes to sandy area. Look at the surroundings, are the Leaves/Branches of the Trees are moving? Is the Opponent's cloth swaying around? Do you feel any type of sound made by the Leaf or the Opponent? If the Person cannot see the Trees and Opponent's cloth swaying, if he cannot listen to any type of sound made by the Leaf or the Opponent, we can come to the conclusion that he is under a Genjutsu.

When the Genjutsu - Temple of Nirvana has been used, the Person under the Genjutsu will fall to sleep after a turn. It is possible for Cherry Blossoms to fall from the air. They just can't be summoned from the air. The Opponent has to go into Mid-air and has to use the Feathers. The way to realize this Genjutsu is that, when the Blossoms are falling on the ground, hear the sound made by them when they fly or touch the ground. If they do not make any type of Noise, we can know that the Person is under a Genjutsu.
The Most Important when in Battle is that you must explain/say on how you realized the Genjutsu. If done in a wrong way, it might kill you when the Opponent launches another attack after Genjutsu.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release

Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

Using Kai is very common way to release from a Genjutsu if you are able to notice you are in one. The user performs a single hand seal and stops his entire chakra for a moment and then uses a even greater energy upon his opponent to break through the Genjutsu. However, this Kai requires a single hand seal and cannot be used against Genjutsus which paralyze the whole body from moving. This Kai Release can range from C-S Rank and requires the right rank for the ninja to break through the power of the Genjutsu rank. They are displayed down with the Ninja Ranks including the power of the genjutsu rank.
Jounin - C-Rank
S-Class - B-Rank
Sannin- A-Rank
Sage - S-Rank
This Kai has a restriction in battles such as "Can only be used once in battle", "Kai cannot be used". So the user needs to pay attention to the rules he was laid down to.
Pain Release
Another quickest way to release through Genjutsu is using this "Pain Release" method. When the user is able to realize himself in a Genjutsu, he can stab or scratch himself according to the power of the Genjutsu Rank. The pain in the reality removes all the chakra from the person under Genjutsu's brain causing the Genjutsu to be broken. I had no idea regarding the Pain the user requires to break through so Negative Knight (NK) helped me and my friends with the following list.
D-Ranks: Biting your tongue or equivalent
C-Rank: Cutting yourself slightly e.g. piercing your skin with a kunai
B-Ranks: Small stab wound or equivalent
A-Ranks: You need to stab/inflict serious harm to a limb or equivalent
S-Ranks: You need to lose limb or inflict equivalent pain
Full Body Surge
So take for example, Ninja A falls under a Genjutsu and Ninja B isn't under a Genjutsu. So, Ninja B can touch Ninja A and release a sudden surge of chakra into Ninja A disrupting the opponent's chakra. I have a similiar summon which can break me out of Genjutsu B-Ranks or under which can be used twice per battle. This Body Surge can also be used without a companion by the usage of Certain Jutsus in elements. The requirements for that are that the jutsu should spike through all over the body in a moment releasing the opponent's chakra from ours. For example Chidori Nagashi. There are other Elemental Jutsus below which was listed by NK.

Very good, to make sure you understand how it removes the chakra from the pain, it works (by inflicting the pain) causing the physical energy that combines with your spiritual energy that makes up your chakra to become unbalanced due to the pain, the more powerful unbalancing of your chakra level throws off the opponent's imposed disruption that causes the Genjutsu.
I assume you also understand that chakra surges like Nagashi can only disrupt Genjutsu that is below their own rank. nagashi for example, being an A rank elemental technique, can defend from B rank and below Genjutsu, while One Body Blow, an A rank, non focused raw chakra jutsu used by Hyuga's can only dispel C ranks and below, raw chakra, being weaker then elemental chakra, can only dispel genjutsu two ranks below itself.

After using this Genjutsu, it is better to dash towards the opponent as soon as the Genjutsu is deployed. This way, the time could be saved to perform a Jutsu or any sort of Taijutsu or Kenjutsu attack.
Ways to counter:
As soon as the person under the Genjutsu would realize it by looking at the change in surroundings, he/she could take out a kunai or any other weapon and do a single scratch on their body breaking through Genjutsu. Another simple way is to bite your tongue, but the tongue musn't be bitten off.

Due to power of the explosion, the opponent might be flying in the air. So as he already has degree burns. You can just turn him/her into ashes by using a very powerful fire jutsu as the opponent will be slightly blurred and unconscious due to the explosion.
Ways to counter:
When the clone runs towards me, I look at the feet and at the surroundings to see whether the wind is blowing or not. When it is not, I assume that I am in a Genjutsu and take a kunai from my pouch and just make a small scratch on my hand bringing me out of that Genjutsu.

Using your chakra to upset the enemy's chakra flow make them see multiple clones of yourself start to crawl out of the area. Then when the clones attack and are hit they seem to split into more clones afterwards. With the sheer number of illusionary clones you can hide real clones or yourself in the group and then attack making it harder to tell which ones are real.

After seeing the clones move around, I would turn to the wind and I would realize that the clones are not affected by the wind in any sort of way. So I would use the kunai and scratch myself or kill myself!!! (just joking)

Thats it for Ds so on to C ranks. You'll want to learn one of the main ways of releasing genjutsu so we'll start with Kai.

Your chakra then resets back to its natural flow.
Since you are a Sannin you can only dispel A ranks and below. This can also be used on teammates/clones by forming one hand into a Seal of Confirmation (one half of the tiger seal) while placing your hand/body part on your teammate to inject your chakra into their system and perform the flush yourself.

- Can get out any Genjutsu except for the Toad Enchantment something jutsu :/
- The only weakness is that it requires for the user to be of a rank in order break through the certain ranked Genjutsu
- There is one jutsu which was stated by me which cannot be broken through using Kai, But I also remember some other Genjutsu but can't remember it properly

Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.

When the opponent starts to move in circles, it would be better off if something round is used to create around him/her so that if that person realizes, he/she might not be able to escape in time when a powerful killing jutsu is shot from me after the Genjutsu.
Ways to counter:
Say, if a person if is just 5m from us. You start to walk to towards that person and then you realize that you are walking 5m again and again continuously... This is a bit weird and makes you realize that it is possible that might be a Genjutsu... Using Kai or a stab on the hand or leg, I can get out of it.

This one question applies for all the Genjutsus. If I am in Mid-range and execute the Genjutsu. If I goto Long range afterwards, does the chakra in the opponent's head get disrupted causing him/her to get out Genjutsu?

I would quickly then use Genjutsu to make him believe that a large fire ball is heading towards him. If he realizes that he is in a Genjutsu and gets out of it, it would give a very less time to escape the real incoming fire balls.
Ways to counter:
Since a Fireball wouldn't come out of nowhere, I would realize it as Genjutsu and then release myself using Kai or inflicting damage upon myself..

Yes, you'll be out of range which will disrupt your control of the technique.
They have to be stationary for the technique to work. As for countering it Kisame broke out of it by biting his tongue off (surge of pain to break the genjutsu) You should be fine anyway since only Sages could use it on you and when you get to Kage and Sage rank you'll have even less to worry about.
No, its purely a visual illusion.

Not sure what you mean exactly by wind swaying but if you meant like long grass swaying in the wind and phasing through him showing him as intangible that's the right idea.

If, for example, the first illusion is that of a desert and the second that of a forest, upon releasing the first one, the opponent will see the desert fade away while the forest appears around him, making him think he dispelled the illusion while in essence he is still caught in one. Each illusion is equivalent to C-Rank and both are casted at the same time. While normal releases will release only one illusion at a time, a strong enough pain or an external source of chakra can dispel both at the same time.
Form 3 seals *demonstrates* and cast upon your enemy two C rank illusions one after another that are like the basic surrounding changing illusion. If your enemy disperses one with a C rank dispelling technique (small amounts of pain or kai if they specify C and below or can't dispel B rank due to rank) then the 2nd illusion takes hold of their vision and makes them see a different change to the area after the 1st fades away.
