*Kimimaro catches the scroll and thoroughly analyzes it.*

Now that I've read it over, I'm noticing several things. First, the technique requires the performance of a handseal and therefore, cannot be performed while under the influence of a full body paralysis Genjutsu (for obvious reasons). Example's of Genjutsu that paralyze a person are the "Crushing Snake Constriction" technique and Tayuya's "Phantom Sound Chains" technique. Since the technique requires the use of a handseals, I imagine that you also wouldn't be able to perform this technique while under the influence of a Genjutsu that simulates the loss of limbs, like the CJ that Nakiri used .

Of course, before using this technique on yourself or on someone else, you must first deduce that you or they are under the influence of a Genjutsu.

Furthermore, it seems that this technique can only be used to its fully extent by someone of Sage Rank or above. By that, I mean that you must be at least Sage Rank to use this technique to break out of an S Rank Genjutsu. That being said, this technique cannot be used to break out of MS Genjutsu or certain unique Genjutsu, like the Toad Confrontation Chant.

"I myself also have a technique where one loses limbs..within a Genjutsu. Nonetheless, good job. A precious technique, especially for you Kaguya.

Moving on, we get a technique that is induced without the need for hand seals. This makes the opponent believe that they are moving in a straight line, but they are actually, moving in circles. A nice technique to use in the NW, if you want to fool your opponent, or make them tired. However in battle, it can be applied as well, if you know how. Anyway, use it against my clone."

Dean creates a clone that runs towards Kimimaro.

You're right, especially now that all Kaguya are officially immune to the use of pain to release Genjutsu.

*I begin kneading chakra and close my eyes my eyes in concentration. With my eyes closed, I visualize your clone running towards me, similar to what he's doing in reality right now. However, in my imagination, your clone suddenly starts running around in circles in the distance between us. In my imagination, your clone earnestly believes that he is still running towards me; from his point of view, the image of the scenery in front of him implies that he is still moving forward, rather than moving around in circles. After a few seconds, when I feel that I've molded enough chakra, I release my chakra and channel it into your clone in order to catch him within the illusion. Before your clone can reach me, he is afflicted by my Genjutsu and begins running around in circles while being completely unaware of it. While he's busy running in circles, I toss a kunai with an explosive tag towards him. As it nears him, the tag explodes and damages him, causing him to dissipate.*

Advantages: This technique doesn't require any handseals, which would generally make it a bit harder for the opponent to figure out that they are under Genjutsu because there's no "forewarning" so to speak. Another plus to using this technique is that, if the opponent runs around for several hours, they'll be exhausted and at a much greater disadvantage in battle. I imagine that why this is such a good technique to use in the NW -- because it would be more difficult for the opponent to realize that they've been caught in a Genjutsu when traveling long distances.

Disadvantages: In a situation where the opponent is running towards you (like what your clone was doing) it may become more obvious to the opponent that they are under the influence of Genjutsu when they come to realize that, despite all their running, they are not actually moving anywhere closer to you. In addition, while this isn't a huge demerit and it's only logical, this technique can only be used against a moving opponent.

"Very good, and that's pretty much it. Here you go."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.

"Next, we have a technique that basically useless, though could still serve some purposes, only in the NW though. Through physical contact on a stationary opponent, you induce a Genjutsu on the opponent where they will be convinced to give away their darkest and deepest secrets to you. This will allow you to get some village information, and perhaps plot some secret attack. Though the person you use this on, has to be two ranks lower than you, for it to work. Use it against my weak minded clone, and let him tell you..where he hid the pie o_o."

Dean creates a clone that has the secret, of the pie.

*Performs this technique as if your clone ran at me like usual because I aslready wrote my description before I read that last sentence of yours ... sorry*

*As your clone comes towards me again, I close my eyes and begin to mold more chakra. With my eyes closed, I imagine a scenario where your clone is suddenly rendered immobile. When he's rendered immobile, I walk up to him as if I were a friend that he's known for years. I gently lay my hand on his shoulder and ask him ... "where's the pie?" The way I speak is hypnotic in a way that causes your clone to completely let his guard down and reveal to me that he hid the pie. The moment before he utters those words, I open my eyes and see that your clone is just about to reach me. Just as your clone reaches me, I grapple him to the ground and get him in a body lock with my wicked awesome moves. Once I've got him stationary, I release all of the chakra I've gathered and channel it into him, inflicting him with the Genjutsu. Just as in my imagination, your weak-minded clone reveals the secret of the pie to me as I ask "where's the pie?" ... "in the pantry." Once he tells me the location of the pie, I mercilessly kill your clone by extending my bones from my body (Dance of the Larch).*

Advantages: Honestly, can't think of any advantages of this technique by itself. Even if you manage to catch your opponent in this Genjutsu and extract the information, they'll know they were put under a Genjutsu and I'm assuming they'll at least have some idea as to what information what taken. In that case, they can pretty much immediately take measures to prevent that information from benefiting the one who stole it. It's almost to overt to be covert. However, I assume it's possible to layer this Genjutsu with another one which has the ability to completely immobilize the opponent. It would be ideal if their senses were overwhelmed by the first, stronger Genjutsu and they wouldn't notice the information being taken from them with this one.

Disadvantages: As you've said, the technique is basically useless outside of the Ninja World since the opponent needs to be immobile for it to work. Since this Genjutsu doesn't render them immobile, it should be pretty hard to hold your opponent in a stationary position . In addition, as you said once again, the information gained from using this technique.

"Awesome job, and that bastard really did hide it in the pantry >_>."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.

"Next, a rather simple Genjutsu which is cast without the need for hand seals. You will cause the opponent to see a fire ball descending from the sky, towards them. This fire ball would then reach them, and engulf them in flames. Of course, being illusionary in nature, it doesn't cause any damage and merely aims to distract and really put the opponent's focus on the sky. You can layer this with another illusion, or simply use real Fire, to make it more difficult to counter. Use it against my clone."

*As your clone runs towards me again, I quickly close my eyes and begin molding chakra. With my eyes closed, I visualize a scene almost identical to the current one where your clone is running directly towards me while I remain motionless. All of a sudden, a massive fireball appears in the air and descends on him from above. Your clone stops in his tracks and his attention is successfully drawn to the fireball as it descends on him. In the next moment, he is devoured by the flames and I open my eyes thereafter. Having molded enough chakra and with your clone now in short range of me, I "ingrain" the illusion in my chakra, followed by releasing and channeling that chakra into your clone in order to catch him in my Genjutsu. As the giant fireball appears in his mind, your clone stops moving and his attention is visibly drawn to the sky. Taking this opportunity while he's distracted, I rush forward and extend my forearm bone through my right palm and impale your clone through the heart. Sustaining that injury, your clone dissipates.*

Advantages: As you've said, this technique doesn't require handseals. Additionally, as you've so kindly informed me, I can use a fire style jutsu with this illusion to make it seem more "realistic" in that I can burn the opponent in reality.

Disadvantages: The formation of such a giant fireball in the air should be obvious to the opponent even before it presents the threat of descending down upon them; it would eclipse the sun in a fairly obvious manner, not to mention the heat that would come off such a concentrated source of fire. The fact that the fireball appears out of nowhere makes it easier to deduce that this is a Genjutsu. Additionally, letting such a large fireball descend onto the battlefield would also pose a danger to me as well, further reinforcing the idea that this is a Genjutsu. Even if I happen to vanish from sight while the opponent is trapped within this illusion, it would still reinforce the belief that this is a Genjutsu. Additionally, the flames do not actually cause any damage, so even if the fireball managed to successfully crash into the ground and "burn them alive," the opponent would not actually feel the sensation of burning. This once again reinforces the fact that this is an illusion.

"Pretty much, here you go."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.

"Now for the last C rank technique, a Genjutsu performed without the need for hand seals. You will cause the opponent to see an illusionary clone, which runs towards them and then explodes into a cloud of cherry blossoms. This obscures the opponent's vision, and allows you to attack the opponent in reality. Pretty simple illusion, and if used in conjunction with that Ninjutsu technique that creates cherry blossoms, you got yourself a good combination. Use it against my clone."

*As your clone comes running towards me, I begin molding my chakra and closing my eyes once again. I proceed to visualize a scenario where I create a clone of my own. Once created, that clone runs towards yours; they'll eventually meet in the distance between us. However, before they can meet, my clone will jump into the air as if ready to pounce on your clone like a wild animal. Once airborne, my clone explodes in a large cloud of cherry blossom petals that rain down on your clone, stopping him in his tracks as he reacts in a confused manner. The cherry blossom petals allow obscure his vision of the real me and allow me to attack with impunity for a brief time. After I finish molding enough chakra, I open my eyes and see that your clone has entered short range. I perform several consecutive back-flips in order to put a decent amount of distance in between us. Then, I land back on my feet and initiate the Genjutsu by releasing and channeling my chakra (imbued with the illusion) into your clone. Under the influence of my Genjutsu, the point at which my imaginary clone jumps and explodes in the air is obvious as your clone begins to react in a confused way in reality. Taking advantage of this moment when your clones vision of me is obscured, I release multiple bone bullets from my fingertips that pierce his body in multiple places and cause him to dissipate.*

Advantages: The act of my illusory clone running towards the opponent, regardless of whether or not the opponent realizes this is a Genjutsu, would serve to briefly divide the opponents attention between me, which would give me some kind of opportunity to take action against the opponent. The same could be said of that moment when my clone explodes into a cloud of cherry blossom petals; the sound of the explosion and the cherry blossoms themselves would briefly disrupt the opponents hearing and vision.

Disadvantages: My clone is imaginary, therefore, if the opponent tried to attack it before my clone jumped in the air, the attack would probably phase through the clone and the opponent would likely realize that they were under the influence of a Genjutsu. Additionally, the act of my clone exploding into a cloud of cherry blossom petals should make it fairly obvious that this is a Genjutsu. I'm sure that at that moment, if they hadn't already attacked my clone, the opponent would realize that they were under a Genjutsu and would take measures to break out of it.

"Indeed, but under the right circumstances, that technique could be highly effective. Here you go."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.

"Now, the first B rank technique is one that brings forth the concept of Genjustu Layering, something we covered early on. I want you to analyze it for me, and tell me what you think about the technique, and how effective it can be in battle."

Dean grabs a scroll and throws it towards Kimimaro.

Type: Supplmentary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
The user will do a sequence of 3 handseals, putting his opponents under a double layered Genjutsu. The user is able to create false surroundings to fool his targets, much like the simpler version of the technique. However, the illusion is in fact layered. If the opponent manages to release the first one, he will then feel the effects of the second illusion. If, for example, the first illusion is that of a desert and the second that of a forest, upon releasing the first one, the opponent will see the desert fade away while the forest appears around him, making him think he dispelled the illusion while in essence he is still caught in one. Each illusion is equivalent to C-Rank and both are casted at the same time. While normal releases will release only one illusion at a time, a strong enough pain or an external source of chakra can dispel both at the same time.

Continuing from where we left off . . .

*Reads the scroll that you handed me.*

Seems interesting -- from what I understand, with this technique I can layer two of the same Genjutsu to more effectively deceive my opponent by trapping him in more than one False Surrounding. For example, I might be able to create a scene where in the first illusion, I place a giant earth wall in between myself and my opponent (to obscure their vision of me, just as I did when I performed the singular, D-Rank version of this technique). When my opponent breaks out of that one, I can have the second Genjutsu depict the terrain as it usually is and move around "behind the illusion" like you said Liliana once did.

But I do also have some questions:

What does it mean that a "normal release" can only break one illusion at a time? Would a normal release be to use Kai? Or something like Chidori Nagashi?

And what would a stronger release be? Would it be something like activating my Curse Mark?

"Nah, by that, I meant that the Genjutsu is ranked ( B ). So breaking it with means of breaking a C rank illusion, would only break one, and leave the other. So you'd have to break it like a B rank illusion would be broken, so both are broken at the same time. Nonetheless, it seems you have the gist of it."

Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 35
Description: The user waves their sword back and forth, which when seen by the target locks them in a genjutsu which causes them to hallucinate multiple waving arms. The movement resembles that of a willow tree blowing in the wind. With the enemy off guard, the user is free to cut them down.

"With this technique, you will need a sword. The sword acts as a medium for the Genjutsu to be initialized. By swinging the sword back and forth, you will induce the opponent in a Genjutsu. It causes them to see the opponent have multiple waving arms, all aimed to strike them. This resembles a willow tree blowing in the wind, and allows you to perfect moment to cut them down. Try it out."

*Using my right hand, I begin by pulling a large bone sword out of my left shoulder. Afterwards, while your clone runs towards me, I remain stationary, close my eyes, and begin visualizing and simultaneously molding chakra. I imagine a scene where I see someone who looks exactly like me waving a sword in front of me. All of a sudden, as he waves his sword, I begin to see multiple waving arms and I can no longer decipher where his real sword is. It's a simple, but effective illusion and now that I've finished visualizing, I imbue the illusion into my chakra and open my eyes. I wave my sword in front of your oncoming clone, the motion of my sword resembling a willow tree blowing in the wind. I channel my chakra into your clone and place the illusion on him so that when he sees me waving my sword around, he suddenly sees multiple waving sword arms in the air. This happens as he enters very close range Taking advantage of this moment, I perform a diagonal slash with my right hand, cutting across your clones torso from his left shoulder to his right hip. Your clone dissipates afterwards.*

Advantages: In that moment that you catch your opponent in the illusion, they won't be able to see where that sword strike is going to come from. You can use that moment to catch them off guard and deliver a fatal strike. It really only takes one good sword strike to lay someone out. You can use this to create that opportunity.

Disadvantages: It's easy to tell this is a Genjutsu when you suddenly see multiple waving arms in the air in front of you. One could very easily assume that my waving my sword was the trigger as well, so it becomes easy to figure out. This attack is probably only good for a single, well timed sword stroke -- whether that attack hits or misses.

"Good job, it seems that you're getting a hang of this quite easily."

Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: Similar to Illusion Technique: Tree Binding Death, the user will do the Dog → Hare → Snake → Ram hand seals and trigger an illusion where the user first disappears, while the target sees several bean vines growing from the ground around and beneath him. These vines bind the target body, lifting them into the air. Then a bean pod rises from the ground to reveal the user, ready to strike. In reality, the opponent is immobilized by the illusion, allowing the user to strike.

"Now with this technique, you will form four hand seals, and induce an illusion on the opponent. They will see you disappear and several vines will grow from the ground beneath them, which grabs a hold of them and lifts them into the air. A bean pod rises from in front of them and from it, an illusionary you emerges and strikes them. In reality, they are immobilized and you are free to do whatever, like attack from their blind side for example. Try it out."

*I begin by practicing the necessary handseals while also molding my chakra. It only takes a few seconds for me to memorize the four handseals -- afterwards, I take a brief moment to close my eyes and concentrate. I visualize and imagine a scene almost identical to the current one, where your clone is running towards me. However in my mind, several vines rise out of the ground and wrap around your clone, constricting him and raising him into the air. All of a sudden a bean pod rises from the ground right in front of him; I emerge from the pod and impale him through the chest while he is immobilized. After visualizing the previous scenario, I open my eyes and imbue the created illusion into my chakra. Immediately afterwards, I perform the necessary handseals and cast the illusion unto your clone. At this moment, in his mind, he'll see the vines rising from the ground to constrict his movements. In reality, I see the your clone is visibly stunned and immobilized as he's stopped running. Taking advantage, I rush forward and use the sword from my previous post to impale your clone through the center of his chest. From your clones point of view, I would have appeared from the bean pole that would rise out of the ground and attacked him from there. The injury causes your clone to dissipate thereafter.*

Advantages: One can easily take advantage of the fact that the opponent is completely immobilized and hallucinating to move around and attack in the background.

Disadvantages: The fact that vines and a bean pole suddenly rise out of the ground, along with the fact that the user will suddenly disappear will make it easier for the opponent to discern that this is a Genjutsu. It will make it a bit easier for the opponent to break out of it, even if they are immobilized.

Damage points: 40 due to stress on the mind
Description: The user will trap the target within an illusion where the opponent appears to be trapped in a large flower bud which then explodes. "A technique where you will place an illusion on the opponent, where they seem to be trapped in a flower bud. This flower bud then explodes, and the opponent will believe it had occurred in reality, and thus, take some mental stress. A generally strong illusion, and easy to use. You know what to do."
