You do know surpassing the previous generation ideal is BS, right?

Fourth Raikage was weaker than his father, Hiruzen was weaker than Hashi and Tobirama, and Kakashi was weaker than Minato.

A genius in any generation is a genius throughout all; Obito wasn't touted as a genius anyway and Kakashi dashed through the ranks. Minato was two generations before the current but was still touted as an absolute genius.
