I can run very fast, almost than my uncle who's a running(er?) back.
I've been fast since I was six, but I don't know how I never did or at least dedicated myself into doing anything running related in my life except basketball. :p Well I asked my mom how can I run so fast if I'm so lazy and usually don't get excersize unless I'm in p.e. class and she said it's probably genetic.

Soo could it be genetics and if so how?

To explain genetics i'll give a simple example, you're a kid, if your genes are good enough after sometime your breast might mature, their size depends on your genes, the more you'll have their weight will slow you down for sure :p

It is a quite famous saying that sprinters are born not made , in my P.E classes i learnt that sprinters have white muscle fibers or also called fast twitching muscle fibers that is said to provide with better reflexes and speed <---this is a result of genetics.

So yes someone get speed due to their birth and heritage, and if you say so you might be a successful athlete later in life. o.o

e.e.....no comment....
You still have like 4-5 years left ¬_¬
But I'm still fast :p

Actually my mom said the same thing. She said I was born fast and it was genetic. She wants to put me in track, which she's been planning on for years but I decided to do other sports. She said I could be a track star but I can't keep running for a long time because of something sometimes. o.o idk.
Meh....I guess I'll give track a shot but I'm lazy so it might not work out.

Partially. I'm a very fast runner too. As far as I know none of my parents were outstanding, though my dad was above average. Then again my entire family is very sportive.

IMO it's indeed more or less genetic. You need to have a certain talent for it. If you aren't born with any kind of speed, you can increase it, but become truly fast not unless you do some crazy stuff.

I've played football (soccer) for 11 seasons. My speed has always been my greatest advantage and none of all the players, even if I played years with them, ever could match my speed even when we did the same training.

Btw there is a fun anecdote involving the speed for men: compare the length of your ring finger and your index finger with each other. The more difference there is between length, the faster you are. It was "scientifically" proven. It had something to do with having more testosteron => more difference in fingers => more speed.

So if I do that it won't work for me? ):

I would say your speed and overall fitness is most likely due to having a fast metabolism. Your metabolic rate (how quickly you process food and burn fat, etc) is genetic. That is, if your family has a fast metabolism then you are likely to have that as well.

As others have noted, this could be something that follows you into your twenties/thirties. But eventually it will slow down.
