Yes, their chakra merged through their genetics merging. Chakra does not merge on it's own, just like nobody from the Shinobi Alliance can still access Kurama's chakra and how people with transplanted eyes never gain their chakra.

None of them can transplanted chakra like Madara did for starters. And I did say that Madara wasn't able to access Hashirama's chakra when he ate it, he needed to transplant the tissue in order for him to gain it. Gold and silver brothers on the other hand can ate tissues and gain power through consumption because they are of six path descent like momoshiki.

It has nothing to do with the theory now, but I still wonder why you even consider the Gold and Silver Brothers to be a distant relative to Hagoromo but not Madara who is of a more direct lineage.

Madara is just one half of the sage, and he is not direct lineage from the Sage either. I said once he gains hashirama's power mixed with his own, then he was able to accomplish this feat of Gold and silver.

Surprise that I didn't see it at first, but the Boruto movie helped confirmed this for me.
One we know that Ginkaku and Kinkaku are descendant of the Sage of Six path, so you wonder why are these guys of his lineage yet show no special six path abilities like others who had them?
Turns out they do. They have the ability to absorb chakra through consumption.

The only other person we know that absorbs chakra too but consumption is none other than Momoshiki.

And if you're still doubting. Look at Madara, he consumed Hashirama's tissues and he still didn't gain any of Hashirama's mokuton and healing powers.

But once a Rikudou relative gains the rinnegan, they take their absorption ability to a whole new level beyond anyone else.

Where does it state they are descendants and isnt absorption only a rinnegan ability so I don't think that's passed on, but in general certain descendents gain specific attributes.

And how do you think the Gold and Silver Brothers are closer related to Hagoromo than Madara? Hagoromo only had two children and so did Kaguya, so they are either rejects of the Uchiha, Senju, or Hyuuga (not having any bloodline limits), or they're not closer. Madara is even Indra's reincarnation, so he is even closer to Hagoromo than the average Uchiha.

We don't know what exactly how the brother's lineage works but we do know that Uchihas are one half and Senju are another. They could've came from Kaguya's starting point for all we know but we know they are Six path descent and not Indra or Asura first. Because Indra and Asura were split down the middle of Six path power.
