Genjutsu, also known as Illusionary Arts are
techniques like ninjutsu,but they are only Illusions as
the name states. Though these Illusions affect the
chakra flow of the opponent's brain, making them
believe that this illusion is indeed reality. It affects
the five senses. So Genjutsu creates images and pain
to the opponent to enhance the effect of reality. The
brain is led to believe it, so it hurts the opponent.
Some Genjutsu can trap you in a loop or even
manipulate you. Genjutsu requires handseals to
perform. One of the most dangerous Genjutsu are
those that are executed using sound, as the user can
stay out of sight.The Uchiha with their Sharingan are
known to be good with performing Genjutsu and also
recognizing it and combating it.
Users are Itachi, Sasuke, Jiraiya...

How to dispel a Genjutsu and why

Simple answer lies in what is a Genjutsu. Genjutsu is a disruption of your normal chakra flow that makes you experience an illusion as it scrambles your chakra. We have gone through that so you might ask how does this help?

Ok, if a Genjutsu is a disruption in your own chakra flow, to dispel it you need to create a stronger disruption that will clear that one and leave your chakra on its normal state. So basically, there is only one way to dispel genjutsu: disrupting your chakra flow.

Now, this can be done in 3 basic ways:

1- Altering the balance between physical and spiritual energies in your chakra by disturbing your physical energy. This is done by producing pain. Pain comes from the body and thus it makes your physical energy fluctuate. Because of this fluctuation your chakra flow experiences a spike. This spike is a disturbance that will dispel other disturbances present in your chakra.

2- Altering the balance between physical and spiritual energies in your chakra by disturbing your spiritual energy. This is done by your sheer will power. Its done by forcefully creating a surge of chakra in your body by spiking your spiritual energy. It can be done in 2 ways: through a technique named Kai and through other techniques, like Nagashi, that will produce a high enough surge of chakra through your body.

3- Altering your chakra flow through the introduction of foreign chakra. This can be done by an ally or by entering for example, sage mode or being a jinchuriki. The truth is that as foreign chakra enters your system or another energy (natural energy), your chakra flow becomes altered and thus releases from the genjutsu.

All of these produce a reset-like effect on your chakra flow, making it return to normal.

Genjutsu, or Illusionary Arts, unlike ninjutsu, don't produce a real, palpable, feasible effect; it produces an illusionary effect. With a specific KG however, the illusions can become so strong that the body will be fooled into mimicking in real life the fake effects its perceiving through the illusion. There exists two types of Genjutsu: the passive, non chakra fueled ones (basically illusions to our senses like visual paradoxes and such which have little use in the RP and can be easily overcome through experience and logic) and the active, chakra fueled ones. Within the active chakra fueled ones two subtypes exist: Dojutsu induced Genjutsu and Normal Genjutsu.

Genjutsu works by using chakra to disturb the chakra flow of the opponent, specially in the brain, altering his senses. By doing this you can make him perceive any thing his senses are capable of: pain, heat, cold, tickles, iching, etc etc. A ninja can make the opponent taste, smell, feel, see or hear anything he wants. However, because this is done by using your chakra to manipulate his chakra flow, the ninja needs to be close or, many times, have direct eye contact or even physical contact. This is the main limitation of Genjutsu: range. The further you are away from your opponent, the harder it is to induce the fluctuation on his chakra flow to produce the genjutsu.

How exactly does it work? Well, every one has a balanced chakra flow. The chakra flows in a balanced combination of both physical and spiritual energies. The ratio between them vary from person to person (that is how each person has a different chakra signature) but its always calm and balanced. To produce a genjutsu, a ninja uses his chakra to disturb that balance in a controlled way. This is done in a similar way to ninjutsu, throught both focusing and molding chakra. A fluctuation is then created in the targets chakra "wave length" and makes it fluctuate in a given way. This produces the illusion by scrambling the users link between his Spirit and his Body which effectively is the link between his mind and his senses. To make your chakra be capable of doing the correct fluctuation, you need to use, most of the times, handseals. These help you mold and shape and focus your chakra to the correct wave length you want to induce, thus enabling you to use it to disturb the targets chakra flow.

This one seems a little useless, perform the big amount of handseals [silly imo for such a low rank technique] then insert your chakra into your targets brain, they will see a shower of cherry blossom petals, this cover his vision. Mainly used to cover your tracks, and/or retreat or whatnot.

Awful. Just awful.

One/three advantages:

• 1. It's not a heavily visual illusion, meaning that dissolving in to petals could be construed as elemental technique or even a variant of body flicker. Making it harder to identify.
• 2. The genjutsu doesn't require visual contact of any type and only directly affects yourself making it effective even if you have no direct line of sight momentarily.
• 3. Well this type of genjutsu is excellent for masking movement or even another technique once it has begun and throws the enemy off your location quite effectively.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. Well the main disadvantage would be the large number of handseals required for such a basic genjutsu. Making it difficult to use as quickly as would be needed sometimes.
• 2. Aside from that it's generally low rank means it's easily broken by minor pain, and of course the usage of Kai or any full body surge of C rank and above.
• 3. The final drawback in my opinion would be how susceptible you still are to large area attacks if you did attempt to use this to mask movement.

How you would use it in battle: Simple and effective is the way to go with this, use it on an enemy advancing for a taijutsu attack and attempt to use it to outmaneuver him and deal a powerful hit. Alternatively it could be used to mask your location allowing you to freely fire another technique from the cover of the illusion.
How you would counter it: Quite simple to counter this technique really, you simply need to recognize it first. A key way to recognize this illusion is knowing it yourself, and by understanding that flower manipulation is an aspect of a certain KG which the user may not have. Eliminating the chance of it being elemental.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I begin by first making the required string of five handseals. Then extending my chakra in a raw form throughout the field. Targeting my opponents mind directly, once the chakra is placed and the genjutsu is logged on course my opponent would begin to see me seemingly dissolve from his vision in a swarm of beautiful sakura petals, causing me to be masked from his sight.
