Please first explain to me why you want to learn Genjutsu and how you would enjoy using it in a battle.

I want to learn it because i like to distract my opponent so that my head on attacks can hit them. And gen is the ultimate form of distraction.

I would enjoy using it to distract and deceive my opponent. And to mess with peoples minds.

Very direct reply.
Let's be a little more creative later, alright? It's extremely important for Genjutsu to work, with regards to the first jutsu.
First off, what exactly is Genjutsu and how does it work? Say that you were about to cast one upon me. How exactly would you be able to do that and how would it affect me?

Genjutsu means illsuionary arts. Genjutsu is a way to trick the brain mind. It is used to affect the opponent by causing then to see fake images. It is also used to make the opponent to feel pain.


How it works is that you send your chakra into the chakra system of another ninja to disrupt his chakra system. Then using the chakra to affect there senses.

To cast the gen onto you i would send my chakra into your chakra system. Then using the chakra i would use it to either cause you to see or feel whatever i wanted to.

Also, please keep in mind that Genjutsu affects all five of your senses, as they are what ensures us that we are still in reality. Make sure to be specific whenever casting Genjutsu.
Genjutsu must also have a creative and imaginative user. It plays a huge role in manipulation, and can easily turn the tide of fights in the way you want them to be.
So we have discussed Genjutsu just a tiny bit.
Let's say I trapped you in a Genjutsu right now, and your body is completely immobilized.
What are several ways you can break out?

Well if im immobilized then i wouldn't be able to use handseals to perform kai, which depending on your rank releases different ranks of gen. Also i wouldn't be able to move to draw a kunai to stab myself to cause pain to break me out of the gen.

Another way is if something inserts chakra into you weather that be a shadow clone that was created before the gen was cast onto you or a bijuu. Also aburame bugs can sense when there hosts chakra system has been disrupted.

The last way is though a full body surge of chakra. The most used jutsu using this way is nagashi. Another tech that causes a full body surge is the super light weight earth tech.

You'd be wrong about that earth technique. There was actually discussion posted by Zanji, the sensei, about this, in the Sensei HQ.

This technique I am calling into question because I absolutely despise how it has been used lately. Apparently this technique is being used to break out of Genjutsu's by making your body lighter thus flushing your body out of the foreign chakra. The ****?! Never in my years of RPing has effecting your mass, effected your chakra. Now tell me in full explanation how exactly this can be used to break you out of a genjutsu. Prime example of it being used in such a way was in Minato and Igneel's fight in the Ninja World.

Well, there are three major ways to break out of Genjutsu, not to mention the minor aspects of the manga.
First, would naturally be intense pain, since pain naturally overcomes everything else in the body. This would allow someone to hereby "snap to their senses".
Second, would be to have some kind of Doujutsu, such as Sharingan, that can break out of such things.
Thirdly, would be disrupting the flow of your chakra, which I am assuming is the point you're bringing up here. Usually, this is done by only Jinchuurikis, a teammate, or a Shadow Clone.

I personally don't see how this is jutsu is supposed to break you out of a Genjutsu. You would have disrupt your chakra flow, thus, hindering your five senses for a slight moment. This, on the other hand, is a S-Rank Earth jutsu, which I am sure the user focuses on their OWN CHAKRA, turning it into an earthly quality so that the item would become lighter.
I believe this jutsu holds the same technique as other jutsus that can turn your body into different aspects of earth, and in no way, should this be able to disrupt chakra flow. You are correct in saying that the changed mass does not affect the chakra flow in any manner. I don't know why anyone would use it to break out of a Genjutsu, much less be able to move during the affected term.
The jutsu usually affects items, as show in the manga, and it needs direct contact for it to happen.

Scorps:

These are the official ways to disrupt and dispel/release from genjutsu.

The full body, full system chakra surges was never an issue or even valid until the point where it was deemed that Nagashi could be used to dispel genjutsu. The reasoning was that you'd overpower the enemy's genjutsu by forcefully "bursting" enough of your own chakra all together. Then I revamped this rule to make it more resonable and actually more logical instead of saying "nagashi can because its nagashi". While in the manga it was not shown, the fact is that Genjutsu in the RP is far more powerful and I took all that into account when revamping the rules for release and I stand by what is stated there.

Never mind. That is not a full body chakra surge. You use that into something you're touching. As far as we know you can't use it on yourself but only on others.

So, yeah, if you wish to read that about the jutsu, I can assure you it does not work, but Nagashi does.

Moving on.
Biting your tongue is an effective way to release you from most Genjutsus. Not too hard, just enough for you to bleed. Keep this in mind if you are completely paralyzed next time.
Jinchuurikis can also break you out of Genjutsus likewise, much like how teammates work, since there are two forces at work in the jinchuuriki.

Lastly, Shadow Clones are extremely important in teamfights. My main reasons are:
First: Clones can perform various attacks all at the same time. Indeed, imagine if you had four clones in front of you all release different jutsus at you at the exact moment. Dangerous, no?
Second: It is hard to tell the difference between the real you and clones. Only the Sharingan is able to tell such differences, or normally, people just godmode this in battle.
Third: Being able to combo greatly with split-second jutsus - imagine seeing several attacks coming at you at all directions.
Fourth: Distraction in general - for example, a clone used Thunder Up, and caused an explosion, the enemy will be drawn to the noise and you could then take advantage of this.
Fifth: Release of Genjutsu.
Sixth: Sacrifice for information.
Seventh: Increase of field of vision. Blind spots.
Eight: Human Shield.
I can emphasize on this later, but since the usage of Genjutsus requires fake clone illusions, I think it's important for you to know this if you haven't learned the actual technique.

Alright, let's actually begin. I hope you read all that.
I want you to first send your chakra into my brain and manipulate each of my five senses individually, so that I am convinced my surroundings has changed.

I manipulate all your senses by making it feel like sand, i then manipulate your sense of smell to make you smell the sand. Then i manipulate your sense of taste so that when you breath in you get the taste of sand. Then finally your since of hearing so that you hear the scatchy-ness of the sand.*

Well if you didn't know that it was a gen and thought it was a sand attack you would use a lightning attack and i would use a water tech so that when you used the lightning the water would hit you and then you'd shock yourself.

Very good.
Genjutsu plays best with the technique of cause and effect.
For example, you used a Wind Jutsu to blow away the explosive tag, thus, I can follow up with a prepared fire move to disregard your Wind Jutsu, so that it overcomes it and is sent back at you two times stronger.
By taking the upper hand, you can juggle your opponent around and have them react the way you want to, as we are all forced to make moves and survive in a battle. This is most often used in chess, where it is necessary to be able to predict several moves ahead of the opponent.

Now, let's be creative once more.
This time, think of a deadly combination that can work changing the environment and another jutsu that would immediately kill.
Remember, you can make the environment anything you wish. The possibilities are infinite.

Well i would make it seem like the earth beneath there feet was cracking and moving. Then i would use the water tech that summons water right above there heads because they will most likely think i used an earth tech. So as they do the lightning the water would fall on them and they would shock themselves. As there stunned id erupt a few earth spikes to finish them off.

Range is the reach of each jutsu

Like the jutsu i just learned is short to mid which means that it will affect opponents that are in short range of the user and also in mid range from the user. But it won't affect opponents in long range.

So how does range affect timing?

Well to reach short range it would take less time to reach than mid or long range. And it would take longer to to reach long range.

Keep this in mind when you have a battle next time. Always check the jutsu range before doing anything to make sure it has enough power to hit/reach your oppponent.

Now, for this next jutsu, take over my clone's five senses one more.
Have him believe that you are now dissolving into cherry blossom petals, and that those very petals are going to be fluttering in the wind towards his eyes, obscuring his vision completely.

*I start by sending my chakra into your clones chakra system. I then using the chakra inside your clone cause your clone to see me dissolve into hundreds of cherry blossom petals. I also cause him to smell the cherry blossoms. They then head towards him. I then cause him to hear the petals rubbing together as they block out his vision. As a stray petals hits him i cause him the feel the petals on his face.*

Never mind the petals part, but why do you think blocking his field of vision is so important?
