Konan made a guess too. She came to a conclusion the same way Danzo and all the others did, with only what they knew already and unsurprisingly, she did not know that RT costs the user's life.

Danzo came to his conclusion because he didn't know that Obito helped in the massacre, iirc. How did Konan came to her conclusion if she hadn't use it in action?

And of course Nagato knew he was going to die. He clearly thought the same as Konan. And since Konan is with Nagato all the time shouldn't he have told her how it works by then?
