Gedo Mazo is powerful without Bijuu Chakra

Good job, I didnt notice that. Tobi probably had the Bijuu extracted and resealed into their respective Jinchuuriki back then already. Or he simply didnt want to waste Bijuu-Chakra.

If the current theory about Gedo Mazo being the Ten-Tails' body is correct (And I think it is) then Gedo Mazo itself doesnt have any chakra and therefore needs another chakra source to do anything (Nagato vs Hanzo)
Tobi might have provided his own chakra back then.

Don't think we've seen Gedo Mazo to it's full potential yet. If it was that strong without any Bijuu chakra, then it's gonna be hella strong with all 7 in it. If it progresses that far.

As soon as Nagato summons Gedo vs. Hanzo, Gedo Mazo drained Nagato's life force or chakra making him look older, skinnier, unhealthier. In other words, Gedo needs some type of synchronization or host if not Tailed-Beasts' chakra.

Nagato being an Uzumaki may have been a perfect pawn for this synchronization seeing as how Uzumaki are famous for their chakra and long lives.

I personally don't think Gedo Mazo is more powerful without the Tailed-Beasts' chakra.

But appearantly you dont have to directly synch with GM to give it your chakra. The Akatsuki members did it differently when extracting the Bijuu.

There was probably one-tail's chakra in Gedo mazo at that point, if it weren't for any bijuu chakra Gedo Mazo would synch Tobi's chakra like it did with nagato with those black rods.

I agree with you that Gedo Mazo is more powerful when supplied by the tailed beast chakra. Although it can get very powerful without the chakra but at a steep price of taking the users life and chakra.
