Alright here's an idea. Two universes that went to war based on oil drying up.
Two large portals open up in random locations on Sera pre Pendulum wars. The locust are not a threat because Adam Phoenix fixed their little problem.
The portals link to two other portals on Earth. One in America and the other in China. Pre nuclear war of course Anchorage has not yet been attacked by the Chinese but vaults are being made.
Both sides realize the natural resource abundance on the opposing planets and all factions on each planet have allied together to conquer the other world. So China and America will not attack each other. Also the COG and the other faction I can never remember what its called will not attack each other.
Things to note.
1. The Americans were in the process of phasing standard firearms out active duty and were giving laser weapons to their forces, plasma weapons are more rare though and they do possess top of the line power armor. And lets not forget Liberty Prime.
2. The COGs heros are not heros yet there was no war for them to claim fame but they do have a full planet now. Their forces are not surprise attacked like the locust did to them. So they will be much more effective.
3. The Chinese have their stealth forces and their full army to send through the portal. Don't forget about their cool energy field thing they have.
4. The portal to the COG is linked to America and the other portal is for the other factions.
