That was a bite not a sword slash. Hody's jaws could destroy part of the palace when he wasnt on energy steroids, and his attack becomes even more powerful especially after eating like a hundred of those.

the panel was obviously in reference to piercing/slashing type attacks(which a bite with sharp teeth is) considering it used the words impact and blows and piercing/slashing is the opposite of that plus they are one of luffy's weaknesses and what does his jaw strength have to do with anything? top notch sword users can slice mountains... stop trying to downgrade what the other guy said Hody was a weak villain who only lasted as long as he did because luffy was at a severe disadvantage being under water and luffy's haki is weak against attacks that focus on shapness rather than blunt force luffy said it himself I swear people will do anything to prove a point even when the answer was clearly stated

Yes And the end of the day it exposed how weak his haki actually is. And revealed how is defense lacking which makes this necessary.
The only things that luffy lacks is defense and stamina. The stamina thing isn't logically solvable with out haki secrets (IMO) so the next logical gear would be defense.

I could see him getting another gear, but I don't think that would be it. He wouldn't need a defense upgrade if he's learning/ is good at CoA haki.

I have no bases for this other than personal speculation.
I dont think its the strength of his haki I think its the nature of his haki.
His haki and his fruit are similar imo they both cant take sharp attacks.

It's a good idea! The Gear Forms should be independently based on Luffy's own DF capabilities, but can be enhanced with Haki. I think this idea rocks!

This is a very unique idea, I really like it. Wouldn't mind if this happened, but it would have to be more versatile.

Imagine combining all 3 to make a super gear: huge, fast and even more intense contact, that would be deadly.

Gomu gomu shot gun -
luffy punches them with an open hand and they get blasted away with earthquake like force.
