Well, Gear 4. The long awaited hype coming on Thursday. This thread is about a theory I have.

Gear 2 was based on the train used in Water 7
Gear 3 is based on the inflation of a balloon

So this shows that Gears are based on things that are happening in tht arc. So therefore, I think Gear 4 COULD BE something like..

Think about it. Gear 2 is an enhanced human, gear 3 is a giant and gear 4 would be a dwarf.. Howver Luffy speed would be far faster than in Gear 2 and stronger than Gear 3.

Luffy mass would stay the same, however , his volume would decrease a lot, so tht means his density would increase. This would mean his strength in base 1 would increase... by a factor of atleast 100 or even 200x. And thats without using his Gomu Gomu attacks, and as he acceleration would be so huge due to the speed Gear 4 offers, the force would be monstrous and would really **** shit up.

However, the side effec would also be pretty bad. I think Luffy would go Berserk mode and that is why he asked every1 2 evacuate from the hill,

. His intelligence would be reduced nd his ability to tank blows would also go down a lot. Additionally, the process of reverting back would take a mssive toll on his body, and Gear 4 would really tire him out.

The tininess of Gear 4 would also make an interesting and funny counter to Doflamingo incredible height.

The most agreed upon theory is the muscle control for Gear 4, using the logic that Gear 2 handles blood and Gear 3 handles Bones, so Gear 4 should handle muscles

Sure it's unique, but being unique doesn't necessarily mean good, nor useful.

The second theory that is accepted would be full armor Red Hawk, which I don't understand considering Luffy can't even use Full Armor Haki and the Gear Techs are dependent on Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi, not on Haki at all

So while your idea does offer more of a chance then the full armor Red Hawk, it just doesn't necessarily sit well with me

Maybe it's safe to say that Gear4 is speed and strength in one and their level will exceed our expectations. I would exaggerate if I said the current Luffy with Gear4 can defeat Prime Garb. There will be a spitting image or glimpse of Garb and Roger's powers to see it in Gear4 Luffy.

Body's shape is not in our field of expectations because of Gear4 unknown effects.

I don't see any kind of logic in this.

For starters there wasn't any particular 'balloon' scene in Water 7. So that he got the inspiration from a balloon, doesn't really have anything to do with the arc. It's also contradictory to the point of the time-skip. He goes training for two years and then makes his long anticipated Gear 4th on the spot based on Dwarfs which I'm pretty sure he barely has seen. I even think he never met one at all. This is flawed on all sides.

Secondly Gear 2nd and 3rd have both a logical reasoning behind their mechanics, they don't just provide speed and power out of the blue. Gear 2nd pumps the blood throughout the body at such speeds it increases the speed and strength of the body. This is how it works in real life, but Luffy can do this on a much higher level because of his rubber body. With Gear 3rd Luffy blows up his own bones so that they increase in size, he makes his own limbs expand to the size of giants and their corresponding strength. You however just plainly said that somehow he will become small, somehow that will give him a 100-200 times power boost (what?) and somehow that will give him extreme speed. In reality you didn't provide any real new idea on Gear 4th other than saying that he will be small without explaining how he is supposed to become like that and above all how that could achieve such strength and speed.

What makes Luffy's Gears gears, are their mechanics and not what they result in and you did not explain anything about the first, only the latter and without the first the latter is pointless.

I also though gear 4 would be a improved version of dwarf luffy, seeing as he no longer turns into it. Maybe he mastered that transformation and called it gear four, which gives him more speed.

Physics says that the smaller the impact the greater the force, so perhaps the increase in speed plus the shrinking of size will increase the impact of his blows.
