Gaara of the desert...the name that was enough to send chills down the spine when he was first introduced...however I feel that his powers though awesome are far from being at their full potential and were not utilised properly.....now many people will say what you are surely kidding....but lets have a look at a character who has similar powers to Gaara........yep Crocodile from One piece

Now if Gaara were to use his powers to dry out or suck moisture out of something he could become even more dangerous.....add to his arsenal the ability to mummify, to simply lay waste to the towns and nations by simply destroying their foundations, the scythe attacks from the sands and what not......His character is a great one and so are his powers but he is a character who is often considered weak in comparison to other overrated characters.....I think he has great potential and his powers could be unrivaled if not nerfed......what do you guys think?

Kishi ignored a lot of characters he could've developed further. Still among all the current Kages I think Gaara is second only to Naruto in power.

Most people on the forums aren't underrating Gaara. As long as he's not against godtier characters or like, Onoki, I think most people wouldn't discount him. Kishi did a good job of hyping and displaying Gaara's powers without making him seem overpowered as hell.

The reason you don't see Gaara doing vicious things is because in the War Arc he mainly functions as support, which is logical.

Gaara's like the one character who I think I'm entirely fine with, characterization-wise.

If Gaara could suck out moisture like Croc then he'd render every suiton user pointless in a fight.

Gaara has feat to stop even Hashirama from healing, mean healer like Tsunade or Sakura is as good as dead...

His transformation from a bad to good and cool character was satisfying, and later on the friendship between Gaara and Naruto was interesting and fun to watch.
In Boruto the movie he was shown to use a smaller gourd than before, yet his offense and defense were still effective as before implying he has further improved the efficiency of his techniques. I don't like his new hair style though.

I am not analysing Crocodile's powers just saying that Gaara has got the similar ability and if the moves Croc uses were incorporated into Gaara's arsenal that would be awesome

Anything higher than that would be the top tier level which consists of characters like kaguya, madara, Naruto, Sasuke and obito ect.. I don't think gaara is at that level. He strong but not that strong.

it's not Kishimoto's fault that your expectations for a character got out of control because of a moniker. It's like saying Minato had unused potential because he didn't have some ability to run like The Flash because his moniker was The Yellow Flash.

I'm saying it's because of that awakening that Gaara wouldn't be able to absorb fluids from people. The nature of sand isn't to suck you dry. But I will say that Gaara should be intangible like Crocodile if he can turn into sand.
