Are you stupid he saved the entire village, by battling the Nine-tails, and Tobi, and then sealing the Ninetails, which he could only do after weakening the nine tails dramatically, you really think gaara could do that!?

The ninetails also back then was twice as powerful as it is inside Naruto, and gaara can't even keep up with that.

And he has a much greater chance of taking on the real madara than Gaara does!
