He can pull him out of it, Itachi is not very fast. And you have to make eye contact to do that genjutsu. He can easly sense with his sand.

Ok then, to put it in simple terms. Gaara is no wear near strong enough to challenge itachi. Gaara belongs in the same category as kakashi, gai, deidora. Those type of ninja's who are strong but arent powerful

I doubt it.A character that has beaten two edo kages and fought Madara and survived,is super powerful.Kakashi,Gai or Deidara won't never do this.Probably Itachi neither,he hadn't got enough chakra to do this.
