Gajeel is tall and muscular young man with long, spiky black hair, which is usually kept slicked back, revealing his forehead. He has red eyes (initially portrayed as green) with slitted dark pupils and no visible eyebrows. Most of his exposed body is covered in sets of simple, round studs. The most visible studs are on his face, with three of them above each of his eyes (acting as "eyebrows" of a sort), three on each side of his nose, and two on his chin, just below his mouth. His ears are adorned by two sets of five earrings each.
He also sports four studs on each of his forearms, with his right one being covered in scars. Gajeel's usual outfit consists of a shabby, black, sleeveless tunic with studded edges, with a studded belt around his waist, loose whitish pants tucked inside studded black boots, and a pair of studded brown gloves paired with similarly studded wristbands. He also sports a distinctive wing-like ornament, seemingly made of feathers jutting upwards, over his right shoulder, attached to his tunic by a large stud.

Personality:
Gejeel was depicted as cold and apathetic, and didn't hesitate to injure his own allies if he was irritated. Despite saying that he doesn't wish to make friends, he ironically forms them through his tenacious personality. He believes himself to be a great musician, regardless of what others think of him, and enjoys showing off his metal grinding, glass cracking, and ear destroying voice.

Background Info
History:
Gajeel was born in Kumogakure in which he grew up in a poverty stricken family. His father was killed in the previous war, meaning he and his family had no source of income. At the age of 13 Gajeel finally took responsibility and joined the nearest ninja academy hoping he can follow in his fathers footsteps and become a great ninja.
He graduated at the age of 15 allowing him to join his very own squad. Although the payment was slow and small he didn't mind due to the amount of fun he was having.
Gajeel became a jounin at the age of 19 along with his fellow teammates, allowing him to lead his own squad of genins. They were Hisoka Nara, Hoshimi Inuzuka and Raikou Uchiha.
Gajeel was given this team specifically by the Raikage in order to watch over Raikou due to him being an Uchiha. The reputation and name of the Uchiha is know all over the world.
The first mission for squad 5 was to find the missing son of a rich banker. The team was to schedule outside the village gates at noon, but Hoshimi was late as always.
I wonder where she is ! said Hisoka.
Leaning against a tree Raikou kept his distance from Gajeel and Hisoka. He didn't like getting close to people. No one knows why but all that is known from him is that he wants to kill a certain somebody in order to get revenge for his father.
Gajeel took a bite into his apple, while signalling at Hisoka that Hoshimi is walking towards us right now.
Alright look like where all here. A quick mission briefing. We are to search for the missing child of Misota the owner of bank chains. He told me that he last seen his son Haku playing outside in his front garden. He went to get a drink for him, but when he came back, he had gone.
Why is Raikou even with us...he never speaks or gets involved in the team. Can't we replace him or something? said Hisoka.
That's abit harsh Hisoka. I mean we're a team, we should be getting along like a team. said Hoshimi
Ignoring the kids, Gajeel carries on with the briefing.
Word is that he was last seen heading to the sound village. Meaning that's our destination. Tossing his apple into a bin, Team 5 made their way to the Sound Village !!

Gajeel carries various ninja tools, including a extra ninja pouch located on his right arm along with a katana and fan strapped to his back. Gajeel always wears his gas mask which prevents him from being effected from sudden bright flashes and gases.
