Gai's 8 Gates

So it seems like we will be getting to see his famous 8 gates technique soon.

My question to you is just how powerful do you think it is?

It's mentioned a few important times in the manga. The first is when Kakashi says that opening all the inner gates gives the user a power superior to that of a kage. The second is right before Naruto goes FMK and saves Kakashi and Gai from the 4-5 Tailed-beast bombs coming at them. When they were trying to figure a way to stop them Kakashi said he would use Kamui, but then Gai said no he would go 8 gates instead.

Therefor is it safe to assume that 8 gates > or = to multiple tailed-beast bombs?

This sort of thread has obviously been made before, but I want this thread to reflect more on if you think Gai could of stopped or overpowered the beast bombs and how much further could he go..

There is no way to dispute the topic as of yet i would say he could of diverted the blast because he has been very stern on the terms of usage up until now only when your loved ones are in danger or in a life or death situation.So knowing he will die if he opened the gates it is very possible Guy could of done some tremendous damage on the battle field.Like you stated it is a surplus of chakra that grants you power beyond a kage.I highly doubt Guy would open the gates at such a critical point in the war for it to be in vein and prove to be
a wasted effort that brought nothing to the table he did not become one of konohas elite for doing nothing.

When Kakashi said "after using 8 gates you temporarily get power bigger than that of Hokage", it was a general statement. IMHO this means, that IF a Part I Rock Lee somehow MANAGED to open 8th gate, he would be Hokage level. Thus, I think Guy would definitely be beyond kage level in 8 gates. Multiple tailed-beast bombs is a good comparison, I think.

I'm sure opening the 8th gate will give a tremendous power to him, and he will probably activate it to protect Naruto or Kakashi. And would probably die afterwards (though I really don't want this to happen).

Gate 7 did thrash a person with a tailed-beasts level chakra in one hit (Kisame)..

I think he's going to die along with Kakashi more than likely so I'm just looking forward to him going out on top, or at least causing major havoc.

i believe the 8 gates is the strongest ability in the manga and i believe that it will give him amazing power beyond the kages, possibly just under madara ... i mean something that kills u at the end has got to be OP

even if he opens the 8 gates he still is not gunna bo no where near the level of madara, put the 5 kages together gai wont be as strong as 3 of them it would be a wasted move

well, the entire allied army is heading their way, so, it's possible gai goes 8 gates and then gets picked up into critical care by the med unit as it arrives and does not die. but, gai's going to have to go 8 gates. it would be the king of trolls if he didn't by the end of this series.

The power keeping Guy from being able to beat madara is izanagi i will not say it arrogantly like thats the only reason because as it has been mentioned before all it takes is one justu to win but that is indeed the key factor between a fight b vs madara and guy in all eight gates
