Shisui has zero feats of being fast enough to blitz base Guy, much less one using Gates, is not likely to use a jutsu with a 10 year cooldown time right off the bat, and has zero feats of being skilled enough in taijutsu to force Guy to look in his eyes. Therefore, he gets bashed in the skull with nunchaku/bisected with Leaf Adamantine Whirlwind/pinballed with Extreme Lotus/torched with Asa Kujaku.

Gai says 'now' in his head and doesn't even look back before Naruto attacks because that was the plan. Gai can't sense so obviously it wasn't planned for that to happen. To force Obito to materialize regardless and Gai even attacks recklessly saying he bets Obito doesn't have time to absorb
