clearly ammy is more appearing at the target and then the target moving to avoid the fire as it spreads into a vortex than having to watch the eye its coming from
you know that he would have slaughtered the pt1 Jonin w/ Susanno. And susanno wouldn't have even been needed in that situation against Gai, he could have used amaterasu or even finger genjutsu considering Gai has never shown aptitude to break any genjutsu once he's caught in it. Itachi would have taken down Gai back then (Kurenai, Asuma, and Kakashi were pretty much out of the picture at that point) and Itachi w/ Kisame would have been overkill for everyone.

Using 8 gate Gai is like saying Deidara w/ C4 Karura>Naruverse because that explosion spans for kilometers or Konan & her paper bomb technique for Obito>Naruverse or Hiruzen/Minato w/ RDS>Naruverse. Suicide techniques do not count for a reason, considering that the opponent has to resort to killing themselves in order to take the other guy out
it happens all the time in battles. we have a name for it. A DRAW. if theres a mutual kill then clearly the two foes were equal and killed each other while fighting.
If you have to resort to a suicide technique in order to take out the other person, it actually shows that you are quite below the
level of your opponent to be honest.

How does he not get caught in genjutsu, considering that Itachi can summon crows that can fly towards Gai and into his line of vision to catch him in genjutsu, just like Itachi did w/ Naruto during their second encounter in Shippuden? How does Gai avoid genjutsu when all he has to do is point at him?
finger genjutsu is not instant KO. gai can release genjutsus with his chakra control. naruto just sucked since it was his first time facing anything like that. do you think gia would be an elite jounin if he was immediately mindfuked by any and all weak genjutsu?
