I guess my point is that how will a V3 with legs contribute to having more durability than a V3 without legs? Its durability should be the same in my opinion unless some how adding legs to it will somehow increase the overall durability of the upper half too.

it's not just V3 with legs, it's a much much larger V3 with legs. If it was the same size as the one gai busted, i'd have no qualms with saying AT busts it, but it's not it's the size of a bijuu.

Susanoo can greatly vary in size we've seen madara use a V4 that's incomparably larger than the one sasuke used in that scan, madara's also used a V2 that's barely bigger than a human. Unless you want to argue size isn't a factor, you have to address that a bigger susanoo has more HP and thus can take more damage than smaller ones.

EMS Sasuke could never achieve legged susanoo on his own. His beast feat is covering Kurama with PS armor which has nothing to do with leggs. Noone can prove that he has enough chakra to fill in his PS armor with PS body. Hence Gai wins this one with the 7th gate.

. The area Naruto and company were fighting Madara and Obito in was not as large as turtle island. This makes me believe the AT he used on Madara was tiers below the one he can use while fresh. None of them were caught in the explosion and none of them had to brace for the shock wave impacts either like Yamato and company did (and that blast wasn't even on the island itself). Note also that Gyuki fits comfortably INSIDE the buildings on the turtle island (which you can't even see because its so big) so were talking about an blast thats bigger than the Bijuu, if Gai is fresh that is. So, how can Sasukes Susanoo survive lets say 2 blasts of that caliber when just 1 would cause at least medium if not high damage? And before the Kisame inconsistency.

I really don't think you're going to like my view on AT, but before stating it I would like to let you know that i've held this view for a while so it's not like i'm making it up just for this thread.

My view on AT is that the bigger it is, the less powerful it is, kind of like how naruto can expand his rasenshuriken. The goal of the hirudorah used on kisame wasn't just to take kisame out, but to also take out all the sharks, therefore Gai made it really huge rather than focusing all the power on a much smaller area like he did against madara's V3. This would explain why kisame survived the attack, why Gai also survived th attack (he was inside of the sphere), why the attack was so big, and why a much smaller one destroyed something much more durable than the bigger one.

We also saw that when madara detonated hirudorah in Gai's face, it also created a huge explosion, yet it wasn't all that damaging considering Gai only broke a few ribs and was on his feets moments later despite the thing exploding right in his face. So i think that also supports my theory.

So sure, it might hurt your view of Gai if you were just judging his attack by pure scale, but at the same time it's stops people from saying "it didn't even kill kisame" and "it didn't do anything to madara's susanoo, he just chilled the whole chapter".

hirudora has already showed the DC to obliterate V3 susanoo, and even if sasuke uses V4 of legged V3 to tank one of them, they are both still taking quite some damage before guy uses another one and finishes him off

legs wont add much to the table interms of durability when the durability of susanoo is related to the amount of layers that susanoo has, adding extra legs wont change that, since the amount of layers are still the same,
and even if the susanoo thats manifested is slightly more durable, its still not enough to grant sasuke the win
