[My way of Ninja]

Well, a lot of Kishi's idea's changed in the beginning of the manga, perhaps he wanted the turtle to be a central character, or maybe Gai's summon.
We all know now that Gai can't summon shit, he can't even form a ninjutsu, let alone summon anything.
Like I said, Kishi changed a lot of stuff around during the start of Naruto, so I would imagine that he just scrapped the idea of having some weird turtle character.

Right, Enma i beleive is his name .He turns into a staff too & was awesome in the fight against oro.

I think the turtle was just used as a pedestal for Gai to flaunt his manliness more.

I bougth naruto ultimate ninja 3 yesterday, and in the game there was some kind of questions that i have 2 answer. 1 of them was

Wath type of animal does gai sensei summons?
And the answer was turtle. So i guess thats is summon.

I think that Gai's summoning is just something like that from Kakashi's Nin-dogs.
If it really was a summoning like the three of the Sannins, he would used it already, believe me. I mean when he fought Kisame he didn't summon him, he used the Preliminary Lotus.
Maybe he will summon him later.

Whoa whoa there...Gai is one of the most powerful Ninjas in Konoha and he is perfectly capable of using Ninjutsu and is apparently highly adept in the category. He just prefers to use Taijutsu to any other techniques. Hence the formation of a squad specializing in taijutsu. Let's not forget that Gai is one of Konoha's Jonin not a special Jonin like Ebisu or Ibiki who specialize in one type of skill. The turtle is a summon, he summoned it in his 1st appearence and hit the 3rd hokage in the head I do believe.

Because he didn't use any ninjutsu, it doesn't mean he can't use. Maybe u r right, may be not. who knows.

1st of all I'd like to think you for adding the link above. It answers your questions under the aforementioned section "abilities" While he is capable of using ninjutsu and genjutsu, he tends to choose not to, even going so far as to use regular disguises instead of the Transformation Technique. In the few instances that he has used ninjutsu, it has always been offscreen, such as when he summoned Ninkame prior to his first appearance. Despite his apparent decision to only use taijutsu, Guy is a talented ninja, graduating from the Academy at age 7 and becoming a Chunin at age 11. Itachi Uchiha has on different occasions warned others against underestimating Guy. Given that Itachi and his accomplices are extremely dangerous ninja, such a warning is an indicator that Guy is an excellent combatant. This also goes to explain and prove that Might Guy is one of Konoha's most powerful shinobi. I rest my case.
