In this chapter Gai managed to land two blows on Madara, forcing him to back up in the process meaning he was moving too fast to physically counter as he's done against Tobimara and Minato.

I doubt others can dodge it

No. Madara is so used to watching FTG he has adapted to countering it, he is the only one to do so effectively.
Gai was defeated by Madara in every encounter with low diff.
Who else can we really say can counter FTG..maybe someone who is pro with sagemode (Naruto, Kabuto, Madara) but otherwise...

Madara is confident about taking on Gai which is why he fought Gai head on but others won't do that because it is nothing more than a Suicide. For example Sasuke thought he could fight Bee and got owned but Itachi avoided same Bee them pretty easily.

Gai is about Attack , most of his opponents didn't expect him to have such a move in his aresnal , that's why he won because of the surprise element , on the other hand if there is a proper fight & itachi is known to be a brilliant analyst ( remember chikuba tensei ) so itachi will beat him.. , simple brains > brawns..
