We see Lee throw a kunai ahead of a full speed 8th gate Gai where Edo Minato FTG in to take 5 of Madara's black orb then leave while Gaara flys Kakashi to Madara so he can Kamui an opening for Gai, they all outspend Zgai who was attacking full force...Naruto is currently the strongest ninja alive, his KM speed was compared to Minato's FTG many times which is instant, he have better control over his sped and was praised by it by Kaguya. Naruto would sense and dodge all of Gai's attacks as he dodged Kaguya's and Madara's while attacked or was attacking.

Kishi nerfed Madara to make Gai look good, Kakashi said the 8 gates give Zgai power surpassing the 5 kages yet a weaker Edo Madara easily defeated the 5 kages and called it child's play yet a much much stronger Madara is having difficult? Having 1 eye, not using Deva path to stop Gai, and fight Edo Minato, Gaara, Kakashi, and Lee along 8th gate Gai is why Madara was nerfed. His flower world would crush Gai and make everyone who's inside it unconscious due to the pollen.
