Thanks to the raws, we can now clear up this fallacy.

Madara: "何?!空間がねじ曲がっただと?!”
Lit.-
Madara: "What?! He twisted the (air)space?

People have been ignoring the "the" in MP's translation and come to the conclusion that Gai is twisting space space, if you catch my drift.

When actually, he's been twisting the air and creating an immense amount of pressure using the enhanced physical power of the Gates, in a similar manner to Hirudora or Sekizou.

How this is clear?

The Japanese for space (the three dimensional one) is "宇宙" whereas this is "空間" which is an area-type of space.

Twisting the air makes a lot more sense than bending the actual fabric of space....

That means guy would be going so fast, that by the time light hits his body, it will be travelling back to madara only a few multiples faster than guys speed... By the time light hits madara's eye, guy is already 10th the way through; by the time the signal reaches madara's brain and is processed, guy's foot is already in his ribcage. Madara would have never been able to see so much shit going on or formed so many thought processes if guy was travelling around 1/10 the speed of light. Sight is based off reflected light; That sort of speed is too fast for light to hit off guy, then be processed by the brain several times for madara to see his staff move before guy's travelled miles with his ass..

You're saying air pressure bent Madara's staff.... If that was the case the staff would break.

It will. Neurones won't be firing any faster in madara's head... Light won't be traveling back and forth (between him, guy and his staff) any faster...

The black staff is fluid. That's the very first thing we ever learnt about it. It's malleable and can change. That's the reason it was the only thing on the panel to even bend. We didn't see madara's hand stretching now did we

I don't care if it was air or space, all I care is that he "twisted" off half of Madara's face, and that was badass epic.

He has rinnegan. It's safe to say his neurons fire faster. U know. Combat clairvoyance

Why?

You do know air pressure isn't set, it can be any pressure and in this case, it was enough to bend, but not break it.

I'll never understand why people are so obsessed with black and white, and completely ignore the grey area.

Err no that's not really safe to say. Simply put, it just means he sees more 'frames per second'. He captures more info in a second than other normal people so he can see quicker movements, but his neurones still fire at the same speed.

Disregarding all of that, if guy bent space space, the environment in the bottom panel would be distorted.[ ]

With enough frames even light can be seen in motion. And as you said sharingan gives him more frames.

I don't think bent air is enough to bend something that withstands the shockwave of Hirudora or the air cannon of evening elephant.

Seriously dude. Focused air blasts were not enough to do crap against the staff, so why would air that's merely bent?

Because he's going all-out for the final attack and utilizing the power in a different way.

Nobody can contest what Kishimoto writes with his own hand.

Actually the Kanji 空間 (Koukan) has two meanings, space and airspace. You can't use airspace since its a term for aircrafts only. Translators made a mistake with that, this is where Japanese gets tricky.

Most mistranslations happen when a word with the same pronunciation and character have two different meanings.

I wrote a longer response but i lost it so i ain['t bothering going through that again Zzz...

Basically, If guy's travelling at least 1/10 the speed of light, madara will only have a chance to see 5 'frames'. It would be by frame 3 or 4 that he'd realize his staff bent. At the point he'd have only 1 or 2 frames to go through that entire thought process. He doesn't think faster than anyone else, so that's highly unlikely when kisame couldnt' register 'so fast' to a kick that was clearly a lot slower.
