gai and gates...

I was wondering that since gai is alive and as madara said, naruto somehow stoped the ending of 8th gate.
Now will gai live his life with 8th gate open as if it ends gai's dead.

I doubt he can get stuck that way. I thought he already fell out of it and as his chakra was fading it was revived. He's not dark-skinned and turning to ash anymore, but his foot is gone.
