Gaara's Sand Gaurge

So I have been seeing Gaara using the sand from his gaurge and I thought how come he has more sand then whats inside the gaurge. So yeh im thinking he gets some from the ground. :shrug:

So can anyone explain?

He can make any amount of sand using minerals from the ground.

They are fighting in a semi-desertic area, there is sand everywhere plus he is easily able to grind more, if you read the manga, you understand that he carries the gourd because the sand in it is stronger, and the gourd itself is made out of that sand

besides, the sands is moving on it's own, so even if he didn't carry it, the sand would follow
