Because Sasori doesn't have the means of putting gaara down.

I was referring to the weapons laced in poison, not the actual gas itself. I don't see gas being a issue for a airborne gaara, unless of course the 3 kazekage can release it from him mouth but he has no such feats, so I don't see gas being an issue.

Though the 3rd Kazekage's iron sand has a weight advantage over gaara's sand, The kazekage is limited to the amount of iron sand he has due to his inability to create it from nothing. Due to the location this battle takes place in Gaara has a limitless amount of sand, which can allow him to create constructs far larger than anything the sasori can produce.

Which makes Iron Sands construcs useless, because the denser construct wont trump the scale of gaara's attack and defense.

--with the location being the Desert and the starting distance of 200m.. Gaara can use his sand to a huge extent.,

--his sand is capable of blocking all of sasoris attacks and would prevent him from poison.. Not to mention That he can crush most of puppets completely through his sand

--third kazekage is nt doing much either..as only iron forest is worth mentioning whch leaves the puppet wide open.. Which would result in it getting crushed

--100 puppets are also getting taken out through large scale sand tsunami or sand burials.. And his defense allows him to tank all of sasoris attacks
