Gaara can just use sand avalanche and all the hearts get destroyed...Remember that third raikage and the second mizukage were protected by Gaara's father so as not to be hurt.Or just sand tsunami.Saying that there are too many hearts for a character whose attacks are all long range is just ridiculous.Also Gaara was able to catch Deidara and these hearts are not specially known for being fast...
And the water argue is still useless here.Oil makes sand denser,as the author said.Go to read manga again.What happened to Gaara after getting his sand wet...Nothing.He ended up that battle without getting hurt.Wet sand is not even a disadvantage when he can use more and more sand.

Gaara can simply cover all the hearts with sand, crush them, then seal them and do the same to Kakuzu, this will be easy since the hearts only offense is their faces while they can't defend elsewhere, Kakuzu has no offense without his hearts so he's easy.

I don't like saying things like one character could just one-shot someone,but in this case,it's partially true.
Gaara can use a sand Tsunami which could catch all the hearts and Kakazu and perform Giant Sand Funeral. It would crush most if not all of the hearts and severely strain Kakazu.
Gaara has some scenarios in which he could end this quickly.
I see the fact that Kakazu can become multiple targets as his biggest strong point and even so,Gaara has ways to get around this.
It wouldn't take Gaara a long time to realise that the hearts are the targets and his chakra is soo BOSS that he'd be able to keep up the same pace till the end.
