Just to clarify,Water only makes sand heavier & denser. Nothing more. It doesn't make it useless.

Well, I'm not sure it would help him to just fly up and spam, seeing as how Kakuzu has 4 detachable hearts to deal damage with.

Just to clarify,Water only makes sand heavier & denser. Nothing more. It doesn't make it useless.

Kakuzu has better stamina and is more versatile anyways. Domu is helpful here, makes Gaara's sand techniques next to useless.

I'd say Gaara for this match up. His defense is amazing against blunt and overwhelming attacks like Kakuzu's elemental ones, and his offense is versatile. These are what helps Gaara defend himself while being able to hurt Kakuzu instead - he could just send him hundreds of meters underground. Could be something I'm missing though.

kakazu has all the elements and with five hearts its a 5 on 1 match and he hunt tailed beast for a living i am sure he can take gaara.

gaara didn't beat the 2nd mizukage on his own. kakuzu wins.

Soon we will see Gaara fighting 5 Madara's which will show us his skill against multiple opponents.

Water has never been shown to affect Gaara's sand.

The highest release of Fire did nothing to Gaara's sand.

Lightning enhanced Guillotine Drop of A did nothing to Gaara's sand.

Gaara was able to catch 3rd Raikage,4th Kazekage and 2nd Mizukage with his sand hands and they aren't slow. He should be able to catch at least one of the hearts right off the bat and stop it.

If Gaara catches Kakazu while he is still whole and manages to pull off Sand Coffin and Funeral,then all the hearts will go. It crushes the whole body,not just some parts/limbs.

I obviously route for Gaara but I'm just adding some grounds for debate.

I hate it when people underestimate Gaara, he is one of the shows strongest characters. It is Gaara who would defeat Kakuzu EASILY!!!
Defence, offence,sealing and large amount of chakra, that is too much for Kakuzu.

+ he uses desert avalanche, sand hail, desert requiem, etc. that is just too much for kakuzu.

Gaara would crush all hearts in on blow. And plus the location is to gaaras advantange even tho you took away his flying. He still wins. Sand tsunami + desert burial = own
