Bro you're correct. Trollkage's oil mix had that particular effect on Garra's sand because of the mixture with water. However, while regular oil wouldn't hinder it completely useless, it will make it thick and chunky. Thus, making it slower and harder to move. Therefore, still giving Jman a slight edge.

I feel like people are forgetting Gaara is still a jinchuriki at this point and can transform into Shukaku which imo makes it high diff for J-man via Gamabunta and SM.

Sorry for bothering.
OT: Gaara would never use Shukaku at that point. He had absolutely no control over him and that could work against him instead of helping (not being able to come up with strategies, counters or ways to defend himself better).
The only reason why he released it in Konoha was because it was part of the plan to bring it down.
Jiraiya still wins this. Bunta faired quite well by himself and part 1 Naruto pre-rasengan already defeated him. That says a lot if not everything.
SM isn't required nor does it bring anything to the table that Jiraiya needs to win this match.

that slight edge isnt enough to hand j-man a good advantage,cuz gaara has controlled his sand with gold dust which made it 7x heavier,that barely slowed him down,not to mention the fact that gaara can produce landscape changing sand on a whim,and make more when needed. Joki boy's body was also comosed of oil too,yet that didnt affect the sand.
the viz called it slime i think,which is still dofferent from jiraiya's oil and still a product of oil and water. Well apparently oil and water mix in the mizukage's body.
Gaemon is oil propelled by wind ignited by fire,its more of a furnance than being similar to the mizukage's substance, when fire meets oil,the oil gets ignited. The oil of the mizukage wasnt flammable unlike j-man's oil.
And whats geomon to a sand tsunami used by kid gaara?,let alone part 2 gaara
