If you think Gaara could beat A, you are crazy.Gaara when he during the chunin exam got demolish buy Sasuke chidori.Now we know Gaara has gotten more powerful since the chunin exams, but A has the chakra of a tail beast and lightning chakra nature and speed that is only surpass by the 4th Hokage.Gaara wouldn't stand a chance.
to be honest every one of five kage, except Tunade showed only one ability could bi used. Gara - sand, A - his taijutsu, Oonoki - dust technic, Mei - lava. So to speak about Mei is the weakest having just lava on battlefield is not right. In this case you should compare strengths of technics. If Oonoki fast enough to catch A? I don't think so, A possibly crash him as A has a strongest kick among others. Mei's lava seems strong enough to stop Gara's sand, but still she shown easy to lose control while talking about Marriage, so it is weakness. While Gara looks very concentrated any time (after been killed).

Let me help you out, Gaara can't fly.Onoki can fly, Gaara can only levitate.Mei has never been distracted in battle or lost control talking about marriage.Stop making dumb crap up.Secondly, Mei has shown more than one ability.She used both her kekkei genkais,Lava release and Boil Release during sasuke invasion of the kage summit.Furthermore, to used those kekkei genkais she had to master fire, water, and earth so it safe to say she skilled in all three nature elements.Onoki is similar as Dust Release is a Kekkei Gota, meaning he had to master earth, wind, and fire elements to used it.So we know Onoki has fire jutsus, winds jutsus, and earth jutsus.We have also seen Onoki used numerous of his earth jutsus in battle,Earth Release: Added-Weight Rock Technique,Earth Release: Light-Weight Rock Technique, and Earth Release: Fist Rock Technique to name a few.So just to summed up my post, you don't know anything and should stick to just reading the manga .Every single kage has advantages of skills and battle experience over Gaara.Placing Gaara dead last in my opinion when it comes to Kages.

You're right too.Both were necessary. In one side,the gold to stop Mizukage clon.In the other side,the knowledge to know how to use it by his own advantage.But we can say Gaara would kill Mizukage several times with the sand burial,which was useless because he was an edo.But that's other issue.

I think that he's the second strongest kage too. My opinion:
Oonoki > Gaara > A > Mei > Tsunade
In my opinion Oonoki is with his masterful Doton and powerful Jinton the strongest Kage. With his special sand Gaara is the second. On the kage meeting his sand could even react to A's speed.
I'm tired of people saying that Gaara is weak and he's the weakest kage and all that, and some people the other day thought shino could beat Gaara :flaw: , well to be honest he's stronger then 3 of the 5 current kages.

Gaara can use his sand as an ultimate defense, theres only one other defense that can be considered stronger and thats susanoo. He use No chakra on defense, the sand is his mother protecting him, and little chakra for offense.
People like to limit Gaara by putting him in unrealistic areas to fight. When will Gaara ever be in the Hidden Rain Village, or back at the chuunin exams? Most Fights are in an open area.
He is Called Gaara of the Dessert because he can turn almost any terrain to dessert, and people don't like that so they put him in places he would never be.
Alright now to show how he's stronger then the Kage except for Oonoki

Everyone Overrates what Mei can do, yes she has two KGs, but that doesn't make someone strong if thats all she can do, no summonings, no taijutsu, no genjutsu, and one of the KG's doesn't work unless her opponent is in a sealed of area. In reality she's the weakest kage, but thats just me. Gaara easily defeats her
Tsunade
She has her medic skills and super strength and Katsuya but none of those are fast enough to hit Gaara. Gaara wins everytime.

These not only proof that Gaaras sand is faster then amaterasu but also is on par with Raikages V2 speed.
Think about Raikage was up in there kicking to his death( surely by amaterasu) so he can his speed, plus Gravity pulling him dowm even faster. And Gaara sand got there before Raikage almost killed him self.
Faster sand means Raikage can't hit him, and raikage has shown no feats in genjutsu or ninjutsu just taijutsu so he' like lee and guy with 5 gates open. Add that to the fact that Gaara can make the whole terrain a desert, he wins with a giant sandburial.

i get the mei and tsunade arguments but raikage? remember when gaara and naruto were fighting way back then and naruto was quick enough to get by the sand and hit gaara? the only reason gaaras sand has been quicker than raikage is because raikage wasnt expecting it. Gaara knew what was up with sasuke then and anticipated to stop raikage, and he also knew of ameterasu so he anticipated it as well. if raikage was focusing on hitting gaara he would be quick enough to do it, if not that then strong enough to punch through the sand wall. Also gaara turning ANY area into a weapon? sure he can seep a bit of sand from ground anywhere but not the whole battlefield, gaara can only control a certain type of sand, if that wasnt true he could control mud and other forms of dirt or even whole rocks because its all earth material, so if they are in a muddy area or a solid stone room like against sasuke, he would only hanve what he brought to the battle
