Yes, Gaara can defeat Itachi with medium-high difficulty. After he receives the Biju that he rightfully deserves... it shouldn't surpass medium difficulty.. and a desert location would ensure low difficulty on Gaara's behalf. If you want to play like that, I could also tell you that Itachi lost to a mentally unstable child. Am I being that irrational and illogical? I think not.

Well if you are going to be like this, they were actually in deidara's turf(the air) because if gaara has to transport the sand from the ground(his turf) to the air(deidara's turf) then that means they were in deidara's turf, it is like saying because kisame can make a lake on land when fighting an earth type ninja that the earth ninja is in kisame's turf if you know what I mean.

Plot does not count, deidara still has more fire power that can destroy even sasuke's perfect susano(although sasuke is a bad match up for deidara now because of amaterasu and stuff), so don't start getting the wrong idea that hebi sasuke is stronger than deidara.
