Gaara was a very similar character to Frankenstein's monster. Both were created as an experiment. As a result both were hated and feared even by their own creators. While they sought love and tried to make friends with others, they were pushed away and people tried to kill them, including their creators. As a result they decided to get revenge on the world and their purpose became to kill as many people as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if Kishimoto based Gaara on Frankenstein's monster.
