Gaara had bad luck to be put against Rock Lee

That's still one of the most epic fights.
Gaara's sand armor is still too powerful though, which is why Lee still lost. Not cuz of plot no jutsu. Nowadays I wonder if Lee could smash straight through all his sand with his gate power. :s

oh yeah victoriously? Lee on the ground muscles torn body damaged 0% health, unconscious while Gaara is probably at 75% health.

But yeah you can say Lee was "victorious" in losing that fight lol

lee and gaara are the strongest genin imo

neji is a bad match up for lee, both taijutsu experts but neji with his byakugan would see lee coming in base, be able to counter/exchange blows, even a glancing touch from neji is extremely detrimental to ones body

lee with no body weights vs neji would be interesting, and dependent on nejis reaction speed, i think lee would take it in that situation

Neji was by far the most talented, but gaara was on another level from everyone else.

I believe Rock Lee was the only one capable of beating Gaara in the Chunin Exams. If anyone else went up against him they would've forsure lost. Rock Lee was the only one fast enought to do harm on Gaara, that's why Sasuke copied Rock Lee's speed because he knew it would work against Gaara.
Note that Naruto wouldn't use Gamabunda or Kurama chakra against Gaara in the preliminaries because Naruto would not have a good reason to be pissed off at Gaara in that moment, the jonin wouldn't allow them to go that far and Gamabunda is obviously too big for the preliminaries stadium. Yes I know this is a pointless thread but hey, there are worse. So anyway, what are your thoughts?
