It was either Waltz or Nous who proved the Third eye jutsu useless agaisn't Genjutsu in another thread such as this. The eye is connected to the optical nerve via chakra, which in turn still is looking at the Sharingan. It would most likely still catch them in the Genjutsu, and that's game over. Not to mention Obito and Madara take this about low-mid dif seeing as Gaara has no knowledge whatsoever about Kamui, and has been defeated by Madara before.

As a supporter for itachi I have my own view on the 3rd eye being countered, as most itachi fans would say it gets easily countered but that simply isnt true, the 3rd eye can be in a hidden location where the victim wont even be able to see it or it can be high up in the sky to the point where eye contact isnt even possible, while it is true the 3rd eye can be countered it isnt as easy, one must first spot the 3rd eye and have means by making direct contact with the 3rd eye itself.

Calm down. No need to get all serious on a forum. I'm just here to debate. There are also many counters to the distance disadvantage that Itachi has. If Gaara decides he wants to go up in the air and use his third eye jutsu, he opens himself up to a counter attack via Totsuka blade or his Shuriken justu. If Gaara actually resorts to close combat (which i doubt he would) he could either use Tsukuyomi or his finger Genjustu. Also he could use his Crow genjutsu that has a certain radius. All in all, I dont believe Gaara can win. you can try to change my mind by using some counter arguments though.
