I'm still confused about how that(Honor amongst Thieves is Honor under the Seas) translates from the Ningyo/Ninkyo phrase Sun makes in Japanese though~

Yeah, well, I'm thinking they mean something like: Honor among thieves is an honor just there for appearances' sake or something, not really honor at all, as it contradicts itself that thieves would have honor to begin with as you say.
