[Discussion] Franky and the Vinsmokes?

Do you think Franky knows something about the Vinsmokes and their research or even just Judge? The thought just came to me about how Judge said he used to work with Vegapunk before Punk was "captured"(still gota see if that's true or just how Judge interprets it because he couldn't guess Punk'd turn on him?) and then I was remembering Franky ended up in an old shut down Vegapunk lab. Could this have been an early lab from his Vinsmoke partner days? Or is it likely an old lab from after he joined up with the Marines?

If it was an early lab there's a chance Franky has some good info on Judge and the Vinsmokes and some of their early research. If that's the case I could see him being a big part of helping take out Sanji's families, maybe even providing Sanji with a weakness against Ichiji or a way to progress his enhancements?


So what do you guys think? Think that lab Franky was sent to was from when Vegapunk was with the Vinsmokes or with the Marines?

If Oda found it necessary to make a connection between the Vinsmokes and Franky, the latter would have been part of Luffy's team, however he remained at Zou (or went to Wano, that wasn't very clear). Also Franky ended up on Vegapunk's home island, meaning that was the first laboratory that Vegapunk used when he was young, so I doubt this would have been the place he worked with Judge and even if that was the case, Franky was interested in the research, not the relationships between scientists. Lastly Franky is intelligent, but he's not a scientist. His interests lie in machinery and cyborgs, not in DNA manipulation.

I definitely like your idea and I think it would be cool if it somehow turned out to be the case..

But I really do feel like if Franky had anything at all to do with knowledge of the Vinsmokes, then Oda would have made sure for Franky to be with the WCI crew. It would just be the most logical thing for a mangaka who plans out so much for his story so far ahead too..

But that's just my opinion..

I see the Franky and Vinsmoke connection very weak. Just because Franky used some of Vegapunk's blueprints, it doesn't explain Franky's connection to Vinsmoke. I can see Franky's connection to Vegapunk really strong. Perhaps Vegapunk learned about the existence of such a cyborg as Franky after Enies Lobby and/or Thriller Bark, and then maybe Vegapunk asked Kuma to send Franky to Karakuri-Island for some reason(s). I think Vegapunk specialize in cybernetics and Judge specialize in super-human/genetics.

Or he may have found info on enhanced humans in the lab and not knowing Sanji is one yet will reveal what he's kearned once Sanji returns and the rest of the crew learn about his past.

Not necessarily if Oda chooses to reveal any info later that's his choice he doesn't have to do it where you feel it'd fit best. I agree it would make more sense but his info could still be revealed after the crew gets Sanji back and he tells them all what is family is doing. Plus there's no guarantee the Vinsmokes will be done and gone with this arc, they may hold a grudge for ruining the wedding and come back setting up another time when releasing the info would make sense.

Did it ever say it was his home island? That I can't recall but even still it being his home island makes it less likely to have been a base used with the marines. That narrows it down to either being a starter lab he left once he met the Vinsmokes or the lab where he did a lot research while in alliance with Judge. The fact that Franky was able to go there for an upgrade leads me to believe it had useful information which would seem unlikely for a starter lab which points more so to that lab being from the time he was working with Judge.

I wasn't implying he was interested in the relationship between scientists, he wouldn't even know who Judge is to Sanji yet but if that lab was where Punk was working on the stuff he was working on when in alliance with Judge then there may be some information from the Germa Army as well. Judge and Punk would be trading info and collaborating so some of the Vinsmoke information may have been in there for Franky to learn while researching his cybernetics.

Again, never said he was interested in it or even understood all of it but I think the possibility is there that he grabbed some information or can recall some information once he gets news about Sanji and his family. Maybe they reunite and he hears the story and hears the name Judge or Vinsmoke then he's like "Oh yea that name sounds familiar, I saw this in Vegapunk's lab" and happens to have some info about the experiments Judge and Punk were doing which may happen to be the kids, they do have elemental powers(possibly from a DF?) and Vegapunk is capable of planting Kizaru's lazers into robots and was working with artificial fruits maybe he learned of a way to splice fruit traits with embryos. We also know the Vinsmoke scientists said Sanji's mutations weren't working so maybe Franky by chance found the clue to that in Punks lab and will help Sanji's mutations take effect.
