So, I saw Frankenweenie this weekend and I am pleased to say that it was actually pretty good. It's probably the best thing

in 1996. However, that doesn't say much since he's been going downhill the last decade and a half. A further criticism of Burton is that this latest film nowhere near original. It's merely an adaption of an early live action film of his by the same title.

Regardless, the movie was enjoyable and I recommend seeing it in theaters.

The Plot:

Victor Frankenstein, a quiet, intellectual young boy living in the idyllic town of New Holland seeks to use science to restore his deceased dog to life. Upon doing so, things go awry as the town discovers Victor's secret.

Every seen with the man is amazing, particularly one where he tells all of the parents at a PTA conference that they're morons.

My Rating

Given that the film isn't exactly original and that it does feel a little drawn out (even though it's only 1 hr. 30 mins.), I'd give it a 8.5/10. It's worth seeing in theaters, but it's reasonable to wait for the dvd release. Either way you should watch it.

Indeed, Mars Attacks is an old childhood favorite of mine. Burton's an interesting character because he's produced a lot of hits, but he's made equal amounts of shit.
